Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Acoustic guitar for ceremony - song suggestions?

Just a little background on our ceremony - it is in a banquet hall on the same property as our reception, just a different building. The theme of our wedding is elegant country spring. For the reception we're having a live band. That being said...

We're having one of our close friends play acoustic guitar at our ceremony. My question is should we have him play for the entire ceremony or should we have a tape to play for filler? Also, any song suggestions for him to play? I'm really at a loss for coordinating any of the music at the ceremony.

Re: Acoustic guitar for ceremony - song suggestions?

  • So far we've decided on And I love her (Beatles)  and Canon in D major (Pachelbel)on the guitar. . We only have pre ceremony guitar so far. We might have a reading with a song before or after but not sure yet. I think our recessional song will be on an ipod, don't know what song yet.
  • We are having an acoustic guitar at our ceremony as well.  Our plan is for him to play "Rose of My Heart" by Johnny Cash for our precession, "Only Your Heart Knows" an original ballad he wrote for his wife during our Unity Tree Planting, and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder as we walk out.  I would not recommend background music during the actual ceremony.  It would be too distracting.
