I was reading your blog the other day, have you ever tried Minx?
    I hate Dave Ramsey

No, but DYING to. There is a Minx Cert. stylist really close to my house... I need to go check her out. The designs are awesome! I just kind of wish I could do them myself at home, KWIM? I hate paying for other people to do things for me that I *THINK* I can do myself. Cause I'm stubborn and cheap.
  • I'm piggy-backing on this post :P

Hey CAB, so I was wondering if you could help me out with some beauty tips. I'm really adimant about doing things myself...and I was wanting to do my eyebrows...but I don't know which would be the best way to go about this. Should I just wait and have them professionally done? Or is there a slightly fool proof way to do my own and not have it be a disaster?

Also, I've been wanting to do a pamper myself type of thing because I'm wayyyy overdo. Know any awesome recipes for face masks? My face needs some lovin. :)

    Thanks!!

NO fool proof way to do your own brows unfortunately. I had pretty amazing brows back in the day, and kind of ruined them (not that they look bad NOW, but I loved my brows before I put my own hands on them.) I think the best way to go about it is getting them professionally shaped, then tweezing the excess hairs on your own, being careful about keeping its shape. It minimizes the time you'll have to go see a pro to get them done. Eventually, You'll have to get them re shaped again, but at least your not having to go every 2 weeks. This is what I do, anyway. I love threading! Hurts like a bitch but the end result is awesome! And, it's usually pretty cheap!
As for a face mask, try this one out:
    <a href="http://www.painted-ladies.com/breaking-down-beauty-the-aspirin-mask/" rel="nofollow">http://www.painted-ladies.com/breaking-down-beauty-the-aspirin-mask/</a>
I highly recommend doing it with honey. This can be drying without it. I've done it once and it really sloshes off the excess dead skin. I got this off of Pinterest a few months ago. It's cool that when you wash it off, it also acts as a scrub :) AND SO CHEAP!
  • Zelda--I just moseyed on in here and saw your post to CAB; I wanted to piggy-back on the brow thing, if that's okay. I've been getting mine threaded for about 4 years now and I love love love it. My brows look so much better than they did when I tried to pluck them. And it lasts 6-8 weeks before I have to get the stray hairs, and about 12-14 before I have to go in again. It's pretty cheap, too, about $10 for brows and I'll admit I normally get my upper lip done too. it grows back slower and sparser.

The trick to it is to go to a salon to get it done, preferably one that specialized in it and is run by Indian women. The mall kiosks are not as good and tend to go a little too thin.

Also, if you ever want to splurge on a face mask, I love the LUSH ones, especially Love Lettuce, because I have really dry/flaky skin and it helps.

  • Cab, I ask because a family member owns and invented them. I was working for her when she came up with the idea! They are the bomb. Next time I see her, I'll ask if I can mail a set to a blogger I know. ;) I've done them on myself and had her do them, her doing them makes them last for like a month, no joke.

That would be so awesome Stan! Her product looks so awesome and I love the designs!!! I feel obligated now to go see the stylist and blog about it for her. It shall be done ;)

But if she could hook it up that would be amazing, too

Awesome! Thanks! :D I actually was going to go get them threaded this next weekend with my mother...she set up a hair and eyebrow appointment for the both of us, but I was a bit skeptical at first. I know the place she always goes to is run by a couple of Indian women too, so that should be extra nice. :)

I'll defiinitely check that mask out! Thank you so much! :D

Divine: Thanks for the tips on that! Honestly I may just go ahead and try the uppper lip too :P It's always bugged me and I usually use this cream..but it's smelly. So I'll definitely give the threading there a try :)
