Military Brides

DLab

Hi all, I've posted a few times but as a quick recap my FI is in the DEP program with the Marines(leaving in Oct). I know this isn't really wedding related but it is military related so I'm hoping someone can help.  My FI is taking his DLab test at the end of the month and no one from his recruiting station has ever taken them. He is just trying to find any information he can so he can be prepared.  So I was wondering if anyone has taken it or a significant other who has that may be able to give my FI some insight. Thanks for any help anyone can give us! Once again sorry its not wedding related!

That seems to be a good link and it has other links to sites that "may" help him study.

I'm assuming that your FI speaks a forigen language? From what I know about it you must have a real grasp on grammar in the English Language. and that the audio part is a bit*h. Sorry I'm not much help, but that link seems really good. GL to your FI!!

My husband took the dlab and went through the dli in monterey. there are almost no study guides for the exam unfortunately. I was only able to find one small book for him. He didn't prepare too much and he actually did better than he wanted to do (the score you get depends on the language you will learn).  Basically, the test entails, as the previous post said A LOT of grammar work. However, my hubby is hardly an English major!! :) There isn't too much you can do to prepare just make sure he is able to really focus that day. It is just a lot to take in, a lot to focus on. You have to be able to pull out different parts of a sentence...but in a made up language. It is actually kind of cool if you think about it, but yes, difficult. Good luck to him! If you end up in Monterey, you will love it! It is a quiet town, but the weather is nice and the area is beautiful!!

just found the link to the one and only study guide I could find! It isn't a flashcard kind of test so just seeing the rough format of the questions in the book was all I could find to help him!

    Good luck!!
