You look very pretty! So glad you had a nice time.  My H's MC birthday ball was last night and he was pretty hammered when he called me.  He's sleeping it off now I reckon.  I can't wait to go next year!!

My H would kill me if I ever put his cover on!!

hah I put H's cover on for photo ops but that's about it.. He doesn't care too much.. He loves his job, and loves being in the Navy but just isn't into all the nit-picky stuff of it (such as regs). It throws me off because I usually am since JROTC and ROTC shove it down your throats.

You look like you had a great time! Hope you didn't get too drunk :P

I used an old beret for one of my bridal pics.  It turned out to be a reallly cute pic.

    Cute pics!!

Ahhhhh! That's not your cover! Our engagement photographer asked me to put on H's cover, and I said, "not until I earn one of my own." Yeah, it's his job, but the official uniform item eagle, globe, and anchor is not something civilians have earned.

Besides that necessary rant, you looked very pretty, lovely dress.

Beautiful pictures, and you look very pretty!

I'm with Stan, though.  I'd never wear FI's cover, and he takes way too much pride in being a Marine (and the rules and regs that go along with that) to ever let me do that.

Also, I'm confused - he's wearing a white belt, so doesn't that mean he's enlisted?  If that's the case, I thought he was supposed to wear his rank on his sleeve?  Am I missing something, Stan?

Do you mean like on his arm, like at his muscles? lol. If so he got promoted the week before and ordered his new rank. But they did not show up until the Monday after the ball. So he didn't get to have them on. He said he was fine with it, but he looked pretty dissapointed.

Yep, that's what I mean.  I think he probably should have kept his old ones on, but I'm not sure... I think my FI probably just wouldn't have gone if he didn't have the right insignias, but he's that picky with his uniform.

We had a friend whose dress blue uniform showed up without a button and he wore it anyway.  People his own rank and lower didn't say anything, but a few NCO's ripped him a new one and a few guys in his chain of command gave him a hard time.  He'll now be known as "Button" from now until infinity.  All the guys said if he wasn't going to wear it correctly, he shouldn't have worn it at all.  They would have preferred he wore a suit than the incorrect uniform.

It's a lot of money to spend on the ball and not go though. I wouldn't want to have bought tickets that are $50-60 a piece, plus dress and shoes etc and then not go. I get what you're saying though.

Ggirl - I totally agree - if something was wrong with my dress, I'd put a pin in it and deal.  I've been known to stitch things myself by hand, as crappy as that may look.  But FI would never wear his uniform when it wasn't perfect.  I know others are different, but I do know that my guy instantly notices and comments on anyone else whose uniform isn't perfect.

It seems to be really a big USMC thing, especially the NCOs and the Os.  They're worse than a pack of 6th grade girls when it comes to picking each other apart!   They'll comment on weight, haircut, quality of the pressing of the outfit, the way the outfit is worn, whether everything is up to code, posture, fitness.

It's not cute to wear something that you have no right to wear that's earned, like any uniform item with the EGA, in 12 weeks of hell, sorry.

Cal, E1 rank has no rank insignia, so if he was an E1 then there would be no rank. However, every shop around here has the rank insignia and will do same day sewing for them, so I don't think that's an excuse, unless he lives in BFE or something.

I'm sorry Belly, but Stan is totally right, it's not "cute".  You may think so, but it's really not.  You haven't earned the right to wear that cover, even for a picture.  I won't even wear a shirt with an EGA on it.  "USMC" yes, but not the EGA because I haven't earned it.  My H wouldn't wear anything with a Navy seal either, because he didn't earn it.  I did.  Does your FI plan on making a career of the Corps?

My H gets down right mean about Marines disrespecting the uniform.  He will comment on uniforms, haircut, weight, anything, and if someone more junior to him gives him any lip back he generally rips them a new one.  I get it, he loves the MC.  He will totally question someone as to why they aren't wearing the uniform properly.

OP-I will say that your FI obviously has some balls to go to the MC Ball out of uniform.

See, my issue is that it's a uniform item. I could not care less if she had an EGA pendant on a cross, or by itself, or whatever. For me, the issue is that it's on an authorized (and required) uniform item, and that she's wearing it to be cutsey. Cash sales sells women's jewelry with the EGA, and it doesn't phase me to see it worn, because it's not on an earned uniform.

I agree totally with you Stan! My personal choice, however is not to wear any kind of an EGA because I just don't feel like I've earned it.  Maybe I'll change my mind one day or something, but ... probably not.  KNWIM?
