I hate rolling my sleeves, personally. I'm AF but this wouldn't bother me at all.

Not to mention the hyper-jocks that have biceps so big they can't roll their sleeves are ridiculous. But yeah when you're deployed, it's so bloody hot that having the sleeves unrolled so that you get a little airflow is nicer than having it rolled up.

FI will be so thrilled to hear this. He's always complaining about having to roll his sleeves. It just looks uncomfortable anyway.

I know my H will probably be upset because he loves rolling his sleeves, he's super good at it.  Plus, at least in my opinion, now that most of the branches have camis, that kind of set them apart.  I know that when I was in the Navy, we could roll our sleeves, but even when we did, it didn't look the same as the Marines.  From what I've read on the web, the Marine Community is pretty unhappy about it.. Personally, I think it's a shame, and I'm pretty sure H will feel the same. Frown

Huh, I just feel bad for those in hot climates!! Long sleeves all the time suck, military or not. But I guess I get the "uniformity" aspect of it.

I'm not educated on the topic but I hope that, if this does upset a large part of the Marine community, then they share the reasoning that made them decide to do this.

I think FI will be indifferent. I, however, am relieved to not have to iron his f-ing sleeves anymore and try over and over to fold them correctly!

I don't touch FI's uniform either- that's all on him, for better or for worse.  After going to am military boarding school for high school and then joining right after, you'd think he'd be good at it... :-)

I wonder at the reasoning.  They have a reason, right?

I get your point, but at the same time what if someone just actually can't roll their sleeves properly? FI is by no means a Marine dirtbag, I've literally watched him spend over an hour trying to roll his sleeves and he was still complaining about it not being right. Should he be punished for that?

When I was in boot, people tried to pay me to roll their sleeves, I wouldn't ever let them pay me, but I would ALWAYS show them how to do it properly.  I know HOW to roll H's sleeves, but he wouldn't let me unless his hands were broken, which I totally get, it's a pride thing.  Of course my H is a super motivator, and he will correct anyone on anything if he sees them doing/wearing/acting inappropriately both in and out of uniform.  He's the first one to admit that he's hardcore and can be a d!ck (especially when it comes to his beloved Marine Corps), but being PS, I can appreciate where he's coming from...

Stan-I kid you not, I thought the exact same thing!! I was like "Ugh, no wonder, with sleeves like that, they should be rolled down!"

    Stan, I'm loving that babyy!

Embarrassingly enough, the scope of my knowledge on this is limited to watching H get ready in the morning. But his rolled sleeves are always cuff-out, so the button and the cuff are showing, not just rolled material. Is that correct and this picture is just the worst of the worst? Or he's just OCD (which is entirely possible).

H actually doesn't care one way or the other, but he also doesn't wear camis on a daily basis so he doesn't have to roll them that often to care anyway.

This doesn't effect H since he is Army and they don't roll sleeves.  I am with Irish and Sami, H does not let me near his uniforms.  He washes them a certian way.  HAA

Crying over not being able to roll sleeves is just plain silly to me.

Doesn't effect FI being Navy. But he was Marine officer candidate in ROTC for a year (decided that the marines was not for him), so when I told him, he said something similar to Stan. Haha.

Random, semi-interesting factoid: I told H about this article and he said the way the CG does it is unifromity by unit--so his XO decided that everyone will roll sleeves until Nov 1 and then they will all be long sleeved. So everyone in his unit looks the same, it's not a personal choice if you're hot--it's a seasonl uniform reg. Thought that was mildly interesting.

FI is crap at ironing.  He tries, but he's just terrible.  I kept hoping he'd learn - I'm hoping he'll learn during TBS.  In the mean time, I guess I'm just an enabler.  He usually pays to have his uniforms pressed at least once a week when he's on base, but since he's not AD right now, whenever he needs to wear them it's up to me to iron and fold.  I've gotten pretty good at it, but it's a PITA.

This is also coming from the girl who spent 30 minutes before work this morning cutting her FI's hair into a high-and-tight.  Since he let it grow for our vacation (he doesn't like being immediately recognizable as a Marine when out of the country) it was extra bushy, and the stupid cheap shears he bought just were crapping out.

Calindi - im an enabler too sometimes. Army doesnt' roll their sleeves so I don't have to really deal with this, but facebook has been getting spammed. I wash uniforms and put them away, but thats only because FI would never do it if i didn't. He would live out a darn box if I wasn't around and take them right out the dryer and wear them and put them back in the wash until he ran out. Luckily they tend to live at the hanger though and not the house, guess that's going to change :(

Funny as all hell though i'll let him watch me almost do them wrong when I'm mad at him for not doing laundry and he will freak out and redo them and run laundry for like 3+ loads instead of me having to do it :). . . mwhahaha. Apparently because of the velcro they must be washed inside out etc etc!!!! ahhhhhh, but i'd never do them wrong for real. I also do haircuts when someone forgets. FI does that on vaca all the time. We get back the night before late and he freaks out omg my haiiiirrr - please fix it i will get in trouble. *rolls eyes*

So, as of right now there's no explanation for the change?
