I'm super late on all this, because I was gone all day, but in the spirit of things!!

Are you all in school/work today?  What are your plans for this glorious long weekend? No school or work (Grrrr!!) I saw Breaking Dawn today, and I'm going to see the Muppets Movie on Friday.  I don't do Black Friday shopping because I don't really like to shop when it's not crowded.

In honor of the holiday, a Thanksgiving poll:

    1.  How do you like your turkey cooked?
I'm cooking this year! But I'm doing it the same way my mom does.  Herb Butter all over the outside and under the skin, oranges and more herbs on the inside! I already made the herb butter!!!

    2.  What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?
Green Beans!! I love most veggies, but Green Beans are my favorite! Oh! and my cranberry sauce.  I already made it this evening and it's in the fridge.  It has cranberries, apples, walnuts, raisins, orange juice & an airplane bottle's worth of Grand Marnier.

    3.  Pumpkin pie or apple pie?
    Pumpkin all day long!!

    4.  What Thanksgiving food can you live without?
Green Bean casserole... which is why I'm not making it!

    5.  Do you have any family traditions for Thanksgiving?
Not really... We eat, nap, and eat some more.  Lots of wine and beer.

Sami, that cranberry sauce sounds ahh-mazing. It has me drooling... ok, not literally but almost. Can I pretty please get a recipe?

Of course you may my dear!!

    16oz fresh cranberries
    1 cup of water
    1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of Grand Marnier (sp?)
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    Juice of 1/2 orange
1 cup chopped apple (I cube mine because I'm lazy and because I like to bite into something)
1/2 cup of walnuts (I use a whole cup because my mom LLOOVVEESS walnuts)
    1/2 cup of raisins

Bring water & sugar to a boil, add cranberries and liquor and continue to boil for about 6 minutes.  When the cranberries are soft & have "popped" or split, reduce to a simmer and add everything else.  Let it simmer for 10-15 (or 25 minutes like me cause I forgot about it while I was engrossed in Oregon Trail) more minutes and then put it in a serving bowl or whatever & let it cool.  I do mine the night before cause I like it really chilly and almost congealed.. My recipe started from a Paula Deen recipe (one of her only without butter!!) and took years of tweaking and experimenting.  If you like you can add cinnamon or nutmeg (I like both spices, but not in my cranberry sauce).  Let me know how you like it if you try it!!
