Help- Chaplain

Hi. I'm knew to The Knot. I very luckily stumbled across this forum. ^_^ My fiancee is currently overseas and in the Army. He's made some requests that I'm trying to meet for him, but they aren't proving horribly easy without him here. Currently I'm on the hunt for a Chaplain in the DFW area. Does anyone know how to go about finding one? I tried googling, but only really came up with newspaper articles. Any help will be very, very much appreciated. I really want to try and incorporate as many things that he would like as I can. Thanks! ^_^

Are you looking for one ON post?

Or just in the general area?
If you are looking for any in that area, I would go check out your local board
    <-------
Where you will find several knotties that can help you in that department.. Currently I don't think we have any military brides in your area to help with that one.

Also, Welcome to the board! Yay Army!

Welcome to the board! I hope the local board will be able to help you. My only suggestion would be to make some phone calls. I'm not religious so I have no idea WHO you would call but it was easier for us to find a JOP by calling because they don't have anything on websites about doing marriages! Stay and keep posting! :-)

If you are looking for a military chaplain, I would call the local Reserve or National Guard units to see if you can get in touch with their chaplain.  Also, I believe there is still an AF Base near there, though it has been downsized.  See if you can get in touch with the chaplain there.  You should be able to locate them through the base website.

Yeah it's a joint reserve-nas base with an af base as well.. I'm SURE there is a chaplain or 2 on the bases there, but I tried to look up their mwr/asg and couldn't find anything :/

hehehe thanks... I found it pretty hilarious and entertaining while stuck in traffic one day :P

I think I know which base y'all are talking about. It's kind of over near Fort Worth? I know we have a lot of chinooks and other aircraft that fly around here. Do you think a recruitment office would maybe have any clues as to who to contact in the area? Although I think there's a reserve building close by actually. You guys are so helpful. THank you! ^_^

Here is the commercial phone number for the Robert R. Taylor Memorial Chapel on NAS JRB Ft Worth: (817) 782-5665

Explain that you are soon to be a military spouse and you're looking for a chaplain to officiate your wedding, and that your fiance is overseas. Chaplains are very easy to work with and once they understand that you can't come on base (I assume you're a civilian, I apologize if I'm wrong) they might meet with you off-base or refer you to another unit if they are unavailable. He may even bring you on base depending on your needs.

    Good luck!
