Hi ladies this is my first post so excuse me if it's a little long...
My marine and I had a jop ceremony after telling our parents we would have a larger wedding later when things weren't so hectic and money wasn't so tight, which they all agreed was a good idea.
Now my family is really pushing for the big ceremony to be next summer. My parents have offered to help with the wedding as well as my husbands parents, but they have only offered the money, not actually given it to us. Whenever the subject of actually paying for things comes up, suddenly nobody is around, and we all know vendors want their deposits now, not later.
I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings and I am so so grateful that anyone is even offering to help, but family is being unreliable as far as money goes, and you just can't plan the wedding until you have the money in your hands. Is it ok to just say we would like to pay for the wedding ourselves, but that it will be later (maybe 2 years as opossed to 1?) I don't want to refuse their kindness but I can't pay vendors with an IOU...any thoughts/suggestions? Thank you!
