Military Brides

It's like I predict the future...

And I realize this might not be something I should post, and I'm absolutely not doing it in an "attack!" way, I just was really bored today and was wandering around the internet. And I found this really funny based on what was said in our thread.

So, remember this girl (I know Geeg does):

I have to say I've never been able to identify a specific thread or been able to know it was a specific poster that posted a thread about the meanie military brides on TK, until:

When I said what I said on the TK thread I didn't realize it was actually going to happen.

Also, if I need to DD this, I will. I'm not necessarily trying to be mean, it's just funny to me how things happen.

Apparently we are famous for being mean.

Just reading the military topics is pretty funny....The amount of bad ideas that get validated on that site is amusing. Too much puppies and rainbows for me.

First post of the Bee and she is told that inviting extras to the showers is a regional thing. Pretty sure Etiquette Rules are universal .... but then again they are special snowflakes

</div><div>We never called anyone a gold digger.  They always end up making that accusation themselves because they misconstrue what we're saying.</div><div>
</div><div>I realize I may be the minority on this one but, I have a hard time saying that SM's are REALLY underpaid.  MH is making more money at the same level of practice as a medical provider than I am.  In fact, from the way pay increases in the civilian medical world and where it caps out he will always make more than me if I were to stay a civilian provider. You also have to look at the fact that they are not paying back loans for the schooling that they have recieved and that they are recieving money for housing.  IDK I guess I just don't see the point in whining about it when you are receiveing more than enough money to live off of plus to save on top of that if you spend wisely and have good money management skills.  Sure, I may not be living like my parents live but they have also been living/working a lot longer than me.  What do these people expect?</div><div>
    </div><div>Sorry, that's my rant for the day.</div>

</div><div>I'm going to join you in that minority. And for a lot of the same reasons. It's not necessarily about the pay, but also about the perks (BAH, moving money) for me. I realize the perks are part of what it takes to maintain a standing military, and there are members who start off with much less than they may deserve, but the earning potential in pretty great.
    </div><div>
</div><div>Also, to the bolded, <em>this</em>. At the age of 28, I have exactly one friend who is truly living like her parents. That's because she's wonderfully smart and got a lot of scholarships as well as having the rest of her education paid for. Her wedding, paid for. The down payment on the house in her parents' neighborhood, paid for. All by her parents, who worked hard to be able to give her that. That's how she and her husband, who went to night school for his MBA are able to afford their nice house in the 'burbs and 2 kids under 5 with her working part time. And she admits she's lucky and is pretty good with money. I used to feel bad that I wasn't living like my parents, and then I realized that they've been at this a lot longer than I have, but I know so many people (my sister included) who seem to think that they should have a fully furnished nice house and garden and late-model car just because they hit their mid-20s and are "grown-ups." It doesn't work that way. </div><div>
