Military Brides

Yay!!

Hey everyone! Last night when I posted my intro I wasn't quite sure about whether FI would get the EOD school slot or not...he just texted me, and he got it!! We're very excited, and I'm so happy for him :)

    Thanks Sami!

Kendall, we talked about a timeline before he applied--assuming he goes soon after he finishes BOLC (which he thinks he will, since apparently EOD is low on officers right now?) he should finish about 2 months or so before I do, which works out well. Of course, a lot can change between now and then!

</div><div>He's Army. He will be at Eglin at some point, but not sure when...I guess they're in the process of moving the first part of it? I'm not sure on all the details...but in short, yes, he will be there :) Do you know someone who is/has been there?</div>

Welll congrats on the commissioning as well then! haha. did he go rotc or ocs? FI went ocs  for the Navy and we're surrounded by all academy guys up here haha. :)

    LOLways--replied :)

Firsttimer--Thanks :) He went ROTC..I don't think much has changed for him yet, because he's at BOLC still with basically a bunch of guys who also did ROTC...though he did mention a guy who did OCS who got EOD as well. Where is "up here" if you don't mind my asking?

We're up at Whidbey (Washington state). FI is looking forward to PCSing next year though because we will end up down southeast and he is tired of the dry climate up here.. (which I love :P )

Most of my friends are doing rotc as well. I did rotc for a little while myself, but didn't want to commit to the military. I did it more because I loved JROTC in high school and missed rifle/drill team. :]

That's funny..FI is from Florida and had to spend a month at Ft Lewis (Washington state) last summer and hated it--he said he experienced all 4 seasons in one day, and was ready to come back to the humidity. I'm in FL now and would love to go back north at some point too.

I was never exposed to the military much. I went to a very small high school and had therefore never even heard of JROTC, and the first college I went to was really small and had a tiny ROTC program, so I wasn't around it much until I transferred and met FI...I never thought I could make any sort of commitment to the military, including being a spouse, but here we are, and I couldn't be happier about it :) I'm still so new to it though, it's going to take some getting used to!

I'm glad it turned out to be such a good fit :)
I grew up ON an army post haha... In Alaska, Washington, and Germany. It's all I know really.. and the college I'm at now protests every time they try to bring in a ROTC program.. freakin hippies :P

We just got back from JAX, FL ! :) Too hott for me, but I do like the beach so I'm okay ending up down south next. haha too funny that your and my Fi are the same with that! Fi is from Chattanooga, so he LOOOOOOVE humidity... I love .. visiting in the winter.. when it's 60s, dry and sunny...? :P
  • edited December 2011
Ha! I'm in St. Augustine...about 30 mins south of Jax :) And yesss...too hot! I'm so going to end up being one of those snow birds when I'm old, haha...I love love love the summer and especially fall up north, but hate the snow, hence the move to Florida. Of course, now that it's summer and I don't have time to go to the beach, I'm homesick. I think I just need to make up my mind!
  • edited December 2011
haha slacker! get your butt to the beach!!! I'm dying to have my feet in sand right now. I do love the fall here, but spring is always sad and depressing.. I love snow, but I don't like driving in it... and I refuse to. So.. that poses problems at times.. :P
How long do you have left in FL before you/fi move for EOD school stuff?
  • edited December 2011
I'm actually in grad school here, and FI will be spending the majority of EOD school in FL as well (unfortunately still a few hours away, but closer than he is now!) so we'll be here for quite a while longer. I finish school in about a year and a half, and FI *should* finish EOD school about 2 months before I graduate.
  • edited December 2011
Oh nice! I hope the timeline works out for you! :) That would be one of reasons I would be okay with getting JAX next... I need a decent college nearby!

I have a friend that is doing excatly what your FI is doing. Although her and her H moved 3 times in 2 years, not really ideal, but I think its smart to stay and finish school. :)

    Welcome! and Happy Planning.
