Whoaaaa TN local boards changed formats!

So it looks and functions more the TK,which I like--I could never get used to the quoting and replying on TN. BUTTTTTT there are buttons to send a post you "like" directly to FB or Twitter!!!! Horrible idea! 

Not sure when the rest of the boards roll out but MN is understandably upset about it.

TN is screwed up today.  At least MN is so I'm guessing most of it is.

If this option comes to my boards, I'm out of here.  If I wanted my shiit posted on FB I would put it there.  There's things I say on here that I don't want everyone on my FB to see.  LIke about TTC and family things. 

Yes I understand that what I say on the internet is public knowledge anyways, but it's completely different when it is being sent to another site.  Basically when someone "likes" the post it shows a link on their FB.  When people click on the link to see what they liked it takes them to that thread.  Not cool at all and I really hope they do away with that.  Like I said though, I'm out of here if not.

Me and cal were talking about this. I see a lot of people bouncing if this happens. I don't want shiit I posted to be liked by some rando and then have it be on their Facebook. Or I will start with a new sn and not have any pictures, etc.

And ditto beach that this also take control from my hands. If I want to like a news article on CNN then it will show up, but I have a choice on that. This breaches my choice and my privacy in some ways.

True geeg, I could start with a brand new SN if anything.  But I think I would rather boycott in protest til they get rid of it.  Creating a new SN will make them think people like it and are joining the boards.

My real life doesn't cross with TK, except for some of the people I am friends with. But we don't go on each other's boards posting about TK. So it's still separate. 

I hate how EVERYTHING crosses with FB these days. I feel like I should be able to read an article online without it posted to FB.

I'm going to stop posting if it takes over everything. Luckily I don't post much on TN, but if it happens on TK then ill just stop. I have you guys on FB anyway. Like Beach, I post stuff on here I would never want my FB people to know.

I am with you both.  I dont really care for the stuff that I say here to be all of FB.  I mean I not hiding anything but there is that comfort in knowing that if I do post something here it is only seen with my screen name and not showing up on "Crown" facebook land.  I am not sure if I said that clearly.  It is Friday and I am tired.

All the suggestions of people saying "I wish I could 'like' this!!" got misconstrued big time by the powers that be in TN-land. Everythinggggg needs to be public and social networked now?? Jeebus, part of the reason so many of us post here is because it's an insular community, where people know what you want them to know. Sure, some knotties know more about me than others, but what I post here is within my complete control. Boo all around.

This is what I took out from it...

Even if your knot and fb e-mail are different, and you have fb opened while knotting, it WILL show up on your fb page (if you press like).

I'm hoping people just don't do it because it doesn't make sense. If you want to like something for everyone on the message board to see, putting it on your own facebook page defeats the purpose.

Sammy I was thinking the same thing, and it sucks.

Most of the people from TK that I care to keep up with more than here I have on my FB, and some others might need to be added before I jump ship (if it comes down to that).  It's not that I present a different side of me here than I do to everyone else, but there is something about telling internet friends about private things compared to people IRL.

Ohh that's creepy. Also, things can get twisted that way, too. Like how we were messing around yesterday with the whole "cheating" thing? Could you imagine me "liking" what Geeg's wrote?OR someone liking what I was writing? Sure WE all know it was a joke, but FB certainly does not. That is going to get people into a lot of problems. I don't like this at all.

</div><div>You can; you just have to go to settings for that app- there is an option that says "Who sees this activity?" and you can change it to "only me"... that's how I have all my news related ones set up- I agree, I should be able to read articles, do whatever I want without FB automatically telling everyone. If I think everyone else should know about it, that's what the share button is for.</div>

Wow, I was late on this. Yeah, glad that's not happening, what an awful idea! And also they make such a huuuuuge deal in the terms that this is a very public site, so users should shield themselves and not give too much identifying info. The PERSEC ramifications along are mind-boggling.
