Ring Rash?

Ewwww. I have it. I feel like its the herps for my ring finger :(
I just dropped off my ring at a jeweler to get it rhodium dipped. I hope this works.

Anyone else have ring finger herps? I mean.... ring rash?

Re: Ring Rash?

  • How do you get a ring rash??? Ive never heard of it nor have I gotten one. Hope it goes away though!
  • Yeah i get it bad in the winter.  It's usually from getting soap and water trapped under there.  Basically it's contact dermititis, and really common.  The wider the band the more likely you are to get it.  So I've been having it really bad this year with the 3rd band there and how much I wash my hands.

I used to never take my rings off at all, and now I almost rarely have them on anymore.  I don't leave the house that much right now so I make sure I have them on when I leave.  But whenever I'm around the house I take them off, and I try to be really good about putting lotion on and drying under my rings really well when I do have them on.

Thanks Kara. Nickel allergy. The white gold is mixed with nickel, and since its so close to my skin, and it sweats and stuff, it gets a reaction. I've had it on and off for about 9 months now. It sucks. I finally did something about it today that will HOPEFULLY work. Apparently, it's pretty common.

ETA: Also, what Beach said causes it.
    That sucks Beach!!!

You can get it if you're allergic to nickel too...or so I've heard.

ETA: I wrote this before CAB's post showed up.

  • Ahh gotcha. Beach and I have similar bands I think and I wear them all the time but.usually take them of when doing housework and washing my hands, so maybe that's what helps me?

<div>HAHAHA. I don't think I've ever not worn my rings when I'm out, when we were engaged I wouldn't wear it all the time in fear of losing it or something. H ALWAYS wears his ring, no matter what he's doing. </div>
  • When you have ring herps, you're forced to go without them :( Actually, I wear them on my right hand when there is a rash. My hands go through a lot :(
  • Well people can tell by your rash that there's supposed to be something there...it's like those ring tattoos lol.

  • I have to have my rings re done every 6 months.  I get it worse in the summer from sweating and such.  I have to take my rings off if my hands are going to get wet.  I get it so bad that it looks like my rings are eating my fingers off.  Seriously, i get blisters and my skin peals off.  It's gross.  Keeping my hands dry and getting my rings replated every six months helps.  Coconut oil also helps my finger if it starts to itch.

I still wake up in the middle of the night and check that my ring is still on my finger. I am exceptionally paranoid about losing it lol.
