Chit Chatty....

I’m half asleep at work.

3 day weekends mess me up… ya know sleeping in late and then trying to go to bed early doesn’t work very well. I have already been up for 4 hours. *Yawn* Plus, it is going to be a looong day, 8 hours at work, 3 hour class, and then group meeting. I’m actually hoping I can skip out on the group meeting. If I am going to fall asleep…I might as well do it at home instead of at a meeting. I wouldn’t want to bite anyone’s head off being a miss grumpy-pants.

Anyway, FI is away for the week for pre-deployment training(well he is away most weeks…but he is without his phone this week)…I think he is working nights so I probably won’t be awake when he calls most nights. Oh boo!

So, what are you ladies up to today?

Work is super boring today, which is not a bad thing...but I'm watching the clock already! My car didn't start right away this morning, booooo so I'm bringing it in tomorrow. Nothing like throwing a little more on my already-full plate! :)

Amanda, what are you in school for?

I'm suppose to get the invites out to the squadron today.. bleh. I don't want to put together more invites and address and blah blah blah. Been there done that. We sent invites at 10 weeks out to just the family, so we would know how much of the fam would come. Now we know how many friends we can invite, so we are sending out round two (I guess it's KINDA like B-listing, but the only people on the Alist were the WP  and family so.. no one is hurt by it.) The squadron never knows if they are around or not until a week out anyway so .. yup. Have to do that today.. *sigh*

I am also doing the escort board and table numbers today. It's an all- wedding kinda day basically. :P I guess that's what happens when you're 3 weeks out though..

I am going to school for a double major in Management Information Systems and Accounting. MIS is basically the go between the IT department and everybody else. (Because IT people need translators..haha) Think Business Analyists or Project Managers. This is my last semester so I am just taking my capstones (oh and ballroom dance ;-))... which makes for an easy semester (minus the massive amounts of group meetings)

Me too...when I feel overwhelmed I laugh at myself for getting stressed out about one day and then I grab some vodka and forget about it for the time being ;-)

I totally grab wine or vodka and just pour a huge glass and forget about it. Or if I am really pissed I watch TLC four weddings and yell at the TV. Lol the guilty pleasures I have. I hate my local board.. they all have been engaged for like 2 years and have everything planned to a T - while I've only been engaged for 2 months and am so behind.

Amh, when is your date? We planned it in 10 months and that is justbarely too long. I'm dying over here!! :) Don't stress, you'll get it all done. The wine helps.

I'm at 6 months into the engagement, and I'm ready to rock and roll already!  People keep saying this year is going to pass quickly, and I hope they're right.

I'm home sick today.  My stomach's been wonky and for whatever reason, FI and I couldn't sleep last night.  Either of us.  Even after we went in different bedrooms so we could toss and turn without bothering the other.  I didn't fall asleep until 6am, and had to wake up at 7am.  Realized I was going to be useless, so I emailed my boss and texted him to tell him I wasn't going in today.  So just vegging out - I rolled over and went back to sleep for a few hours, but my stomach's still funky so not much rest for me.  Maybe a mid-afternoon nap in a bit.

My ring is back at the jeweler's and my finger feels naked. One of the micropave diamonds fell out.  Luckily our jeweler had promised to do any repairs for free as long as we hadn't used-and-abused the ring (like run over it with a car or something).  I'm not sure what we're going to do after we move - I'll guess we'll just have to pay for any repairs.  All the more reason to get insurance on that puppy...

Oh man Calindi it really really does. We started the planning process while Fi was deployed so that was... 14 months ago now that we had started.. We got SERIOUS about it in Jan/Feb so abou t8 months ago.. and WOW I have no idea where the time has gone O.o
Now Irish and I are about to be old hags ;)

Now I'm sitting in my garage with the tv turned up loud so I can hear it while I spray paint all the table number frames. hehe This probably should have been done a while ago.. :P

We got engaged on 7/4 and our date is March 3. I think 8 months is plenty long enough.. But I still feel super overwhelmed on that board. They were just asking about garters and shoes... and I'm like UHHHHH...?? lol. I'm not all that 'into' being a bride like some girls are apparently.

lol amh I wasn't into it all either. I decided to go from the big stuff to the little stuff.. So at 7-8 months we found all our vendors, then found STDs, then invites, then got down to the nitty gritty.. As l ong as you go big to little it won't be AS overwhelming.
And I know what you mean about the month board.. I'm the last weekend in September and some of the ladies are already married!! So clearly I can be working on my table numbers still, and they...can't.  not so much.. lol

Some people are ridiculous.  I started very early and am definitely ahead of the curve, even on my month board, but I know that I don't NEED to be this far ahead at this point!  I hang out on the August 2012 board, even though I'm getting married Sept 1st (better ahead of the curve than leading the pack, right?  Plus there's 2 girls on that board who share my venue, so it's nice swapping ideas).  Anyway, there are girls who come on the August 2012 board panicked that it's too late to buy a designer dress.  Uh, wah!?  You've got 11 months still at least!  Even the most ridiculous designers don't seem to take longer than 8 months.  There are plenty of girls yet to be engaged who will get married before August, so all those girls need to take a chill pill.

Seriously, just write a list.  I have one in my planning bio, if you click below.  It's obviously for my wedding, but a lot of the bullet points are generic.   I put all items in a spreadsheet in Excel, then in the second column put when they should be done by (gave myself deadlines that made sense).  Then I sorted by those dates (do it in numbers rather than words so it works better).  Then I just tick away at them until they're all done!

Yeah there are some loonies out there. I mean, it is a wedding website so....I get that but man. We made a huge list too, FI color coordinated it because he's a tool like that. But anywho, it really helps. We stuck to that and I only had a minor flipout when my mother threw out all 150 votive holders we had DIY'd and decided to buy new ones. WTF. No one cares about. the. votives. Other than that, people keep saying I'm calm and everyone at work is all "omgggggg are you freaking outttttt?" No. I have work to do. Bye.

    You Ladies are my favorite...

I'm glad I am not the only one that is extremely behind schedule and isn't freaking out about it.

    I haven't gotten a dress
    I haven't booked my photographer
I haven't sent out my STDs
I have only asked half of my BP

Most of my ladies on my month board have already printed their invites. Erm.. I'm sorry. My date might move, I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars unless I am at least 50% sure the date isn't going to change.

Yeah, Amanda, I'm with you.  I've starting designing my invitations, but there's no freaking way I'm printing those things until late spring at the earliest (4 months out).  That gives me 2 months to assemble them - more than enough time!  I might order the rest of the paper before (pocketfolds and cardstock), but I'm not printing anything with a date on it until I'm ready to send them!  It just seems like tempting fate.

If you're 7 months out and still unsure about your date, then there's no point in Save the Dates.  They are really not necessary!

Irish, it sounds like a story with the votives - share?  I might have thrown a fit if my Mom threw out that much hard work!

Well.. I have them. I am just procrastinating sending them out. I just KNOW the moment they hit the post office something will happen.

It's okay - we might not even do save the dates at this point. All I have at this point in time is my dress ordered, our reception venue (includes the food -score), the church, florist, and my photographer. that is it.

Thanks for the advice. I made a a list and if i can get the rest of my vendors booked this month, I'll be happy. Then it's on to the fun filled world of diy stuff... hopefully that goes well and is relatively fun.

You ladies make me feel normal! I don't feel like a 'bad bride' for being so far behind! I can't thank yall enough for that. Smile
