Military Brides

FFIL, FSIL, FBIL

We talk a lot about future mother in laws on here but we very rarely talk about the rest of the family.

What is your relationship like with your future father in law, or FIL if you are married?

Does Fi/H have siblings? What is your relationship like with them?
Military Brides December 2011 Siggy. Holiday picture with your SO. We suck and don't have one :/ Those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

FFIL: I like him. He's quiet and I'm a talker so its a little different.

FBIL: Him and I are totally different. He's very strict and not the having fun type (at least when he was here for x-mas) and I'm the silly like to have fun type

I love my FI's brothers. They're funny, and like the best husbands and dads I've ever seen. Seeing their families makes me feel so lucky that I will have that too really soon :). Awww I'm all mushy right now! LOL

Oh, and our best friends are my sister and her husband, so obviously he loves my family, as well.

FFIL- He is a brilliant man. Absolutely brilliant. He has his own psychiatry practice and is always the most interesting person to talk to . He is incredibly accepting of everyone, so it's impossible NOT to get along with the man!

FSIL- she and I are doing SOOO Much better than I have previously mentioned... She finally "clicked" that I'm her sister no matter how she feels about me, and I thnk that helped.
ALSO UPDATE!!!!! (if you remember she is BFF OMFG with H's most recent ex)
She deleted the BFF. Apparently they had a big fight, which isn't surprising because H's ex is a nut-case and totally bipolar. SO yay for them not being friends anyway. That makes her MUCH less tense around me :P

FBIL- is incredible. He's just like H and H's father. Brilliant guy finishing up his engineering degree and has been sooo welcoming and loving towards me since the day we met.
    I'm a lucky lady. :)

FFIL is great. I like him the best out of his family members and I know he loves me because FI has said. He's very laid back and not judgmental like his wife.
FSIL ehh she's a very late bloomer and very awkward to be around. She's 12 and her parents still order for her at restaurants off the kids menu and have to get her to shower and wash her hair well. It really bothers me how much they baby her and FI was raised to be very independent which I love. She just needs some tough love but we'll see.

hahahaha Zim you think that's babying?
    FSIL is 26. 2.6.
and her parents still pay for..

    rent + utilities
    + groceries

Yup. She lives off of them. Completely. at 26.  *sigh*

Oh wow! We're back in the area where my parents live this weekend and there's a bakery here that my siblings and I love so we went there for breakfast. I grabbed FI a donut before I left and went to his paren'ts hosue where he was. His mom didn't say one word to me and like stormed out with his sister Emily. She left her just cooked breakfast and everything. FI was like what just happened? She came back and was like I was being polite and went to the gas station to get Emily a donut because you guys came in here with them and didn't get her one. I was like WTF?! I got a donut for him and thanks for calling me rude. Things have been tense with her lately :/

WOW that's pretty ridiculous... Is she the middle child or the only girl ?I wonder if that's what it is, because that's what H's sister is.
So weird.... FSIL and FMIL still baby talk to each other.. It freaks H out lol.. I don't blame him.. I mean.. a woman in her 50s and a woman in her mid 20s baby talking? A little much...

Haha yeah. It's just his sister and him and there's like an 8 year difference. It's pretty ridiculous. Like she told me it's hard to talk to her about stuff she obviously needs to know at her age and I just wanted to be like that's where you need to be a parent and not her friend. It really frustrates FI and I to see her babies so much. I love how independent FI is and how he's taken care of all of his stuff for a long time now but the difference is parenting is a bit ridiculous. It would sometime turn into a fight this summer to get her to play outside and they got her like a $500 Schwin bike for her to ride and FI was like that's nicer than my first car haha (he also paid for all of his cars)

Yeah she makes comments all the time about money and she doesn't think I manage money well and I spend too much on hair, nails, tanning, etc. But I work two jobs and make $800-$1000 a month at my job at our paper. Like she's so nosy. When FI was deployed I had to get a check from them from his account for our deposit. It was a 2 hour lunch of her badgering me about expenses and she even had the nerve to ask me how much was in my checking account, savings account, and my credit card I was like um that's none of your business

H has 1 brother.  BIL is 30 (maybe 29), he was in the AF for 8 years, one of the first units to go into Iraq.. He suffers from PTSD and depression still.  He's really nice.  He took me out to breakfast on the morning of the wedding.  He claims he really wants to settle down, but his actions say otherwise.

oh! Right! bahahaha. .... >_< Fail.

awww... your BIL makes me saaad :( I mean.. sweet that he took you out to breakfast,.. That's so touching.. But so sad :(

My oldest standing friend is a Marine and just found out that he has a spinal degenerative disease... And the fact that he has had 3, one year long deployments with those backpacks has made it so bad that he is suppose to be in a wheelchair in less than ten years D:
He asked what he could do about it, and the doctor told him that he better start smoking pot now, because it's just going to get worse.
It makes me tear up every time I think of him :( Every time I think of any of the guys that have issues or worse issues because of the military service they put in :(

Thats so sad..  I know I worry about H with his MOS change, and how it will affect him later, since he wants to be a career Marine..

Thread jack: I was driving home today and these 2 little girls had set up like a lemonade stand, but they were giving bracelets for donations, and every bracelet had a match and they were going to donate the money and the matching bracelets to the troops.  I gave them $20, and asked if I could have both bracelets so I could send my bracelet's twin to my H and they were like "Tell your H Thank You, and he's Awesome!"  it was super cute.  They were like 8 or so.. and it totally touched my heart.

Aww that's so adorable! I bought a yellow ribbon belly button ring and the lady said they were a licensed product and a portion goes to something for the troops (she didn't name a specific group/charity) but I was like wow even a belly button ring with benefits haha

[QUOTE]Thats so sad..  I know I worry about H with his MOS change, and how it will affect him later, since he wants to be a career Marine.. <strong>Thread jack: I was driving home today and these 2 little girls had set up like a lemonade stand, but they were giving bracelets for donations, and every bracelet had a match and they were going to donate the money and the matching bracelets to the troops.  I gave them $20, and asked if I could have both bracelets so I could send my bracelet's twin to my H and they were like "Tell your H Thank You, and he's Awesome!"  it was super cute.  They were like 8 or so.. and it totally touched my heart.

Ok I know this thread is dead, but I just have to say that I love all my FILs. My FMIL is nice and down-to-earth amd generous. My FFIL is really funny and so nice, and he's a social worker for kids/teens, so we share that interest! My FBILs are both younger (one is in the Marines, the other a senior in high school). I adore them! I don't have any brothers so I am really excited to "gain" some when I get married! We get along really great, especially me and the youngest. We act like "true" brother and sister, picking on each other and calling each other names haha :) And the rest of my FI's family (aunts/uncles/cousins/grandparents) really like me and treat me like family. I really hit the jackpot with the ILs!
