We chose June.  The grapes are usually ready in late September/early October.  But by that time of the year it is practically winter here.  So I didn't want to risk it and chose June instead.  It seems like the best weather around here in June, not too cold but not crazy hot either.  I would have LOVED to have gotten married with the smell of the grapes and the grapes on the vines but I just can't risk the weather.  The vineyards are pretty green in June so I'm thankful they won't be bare :)

Sami – definitely wait until he’s home.  You guys can have a vow renewal, since I know you kinda want one anyway and putting a new ring on his finger (plus homecoming after soooo long) gives you a really good excuse!

Shan – that’s sooo cute!  I need a new calendar, and was thinking of buying one, but maybe I'll just do that?

Irish – wow, you’re a very talented sewer (is that a word?)!!!  Those are absolutely adorable.  I want to learn!

CAB – bummer on the health insurance.  About renters insurance, have you guys checked with USAA?  They don’t offer it in Florida, but I’ve heard from a friend in Buffalo that he’s used it and it’s great and cheap.  I always prefer to use USAA when they offer a service that I need anyway.  They’re also insuring my engagement ring for super cheap.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Chit Chat : Ugh his idea of decorating is a black comforter on the bed. For real? I told you I bought a new shower curtain and he flipped out right? Haha it's gonna take some work. He's just so "practical" but its like, calm down. It's just a pumpkin. Anyway, spiffy, I'd like to come to your wedding if you dont mind. Or at least see some deats of this wine theme!!! Love that idea!

    I <3 you.
He certainly is a minimalist, isn't he? DId he go to the academy? I know a lot of guys that kinda became minimalists after going to an academy for four years and not being able to decorate.
  • edited December 2011
They do that without being in an academy for 4 years. I told FI that I put a really pretty rug on our registry and he asked me why. I told him it would make the room look nice, and that it would be nice on cold days so our feet wouldn't land on the cold wood floors first thing in the morning. He than said we should just carpet the room than.

Oh I have a strange question I have been wanting to ask. Do your FIs have their name stamped on one of each pair of socks? I laughed the first time I saw that. I know it's probably so that they can keep track of whose laundry belongs to who. FI jokes it's so they know where to return him to if he wanders off and gets lost, or in case he forgets his own name when they work two days in a row with no sleep. I just thought it made no sense that it's only on one of each pair. It's a pointless question I know.

Hugs- I don't do H's laundry.  He is very picky about how they get washed and what goes in the dryer and what doesn't.  So I don't know about the socks becuase I don't really look at them.  HA

Hugs-not socks, but all his PT gear has his name and last 4 digits of his social. I wish he were picky want to wash it himself--heck, I wish he didn't just start stripping down the second the door is closed and leaving the clothes where they fall. Every afternoon I follow a trail of gear to where he is.

Hug- I know not all, but a lot. H is pretty minimalist, but his family is super clutter so he doesn't mind a little decor :P
H has his pt gear, and some of his socks from OCS stamped since that's when they made them do it. His new stuff, no.
    hah
H jokes all the time that he doesn't remember how to use the laundry machine because he hasn't done a single load since we moved in together. He is super anal about how things are folded, but I don't mind humoring it.

Yeah, but I'm not sure that's where it came from. I think he's just a pain in my a$$...... I think once we have a house/townhouse it won't be so bad because stuff can be spread out, kwim? Right now he's like, $^*)G#(Y@ we can't have that! As it is, all of our wedding presents are at his parents house. Sad.

No to the socks being numbered but he does still make them "smile" and is mad anal about his folding too. Hence, why he does 90% of the laundry.

He likes his socks to be matched up. The left socks are the stamped ones and the right socks are not stamped. He still folds his pillow and does the pillow case like he learned in boot camp. When he's home he also makes the bed, because he does it sooooo much better than me! If I didn't know better I would swear that he ironed the sheets onto the bed.

Haha agree on the bed making! I don't require a firmly tucked in sheet, but H needs to tuck his own side in. Oh gosh, I wish my guy was just a teensy bit more anal.  His socks never match - we have a rule that if I can fit my fist through a hole, the sock needs to be thrown out.  I would say if it had a hole, but I can't afford to replace socks as often as he goes through them if that were the case.

He doesn't distinguish between work out shirts, daytime shirts, and sleeping shirts.  He'll put on one shirt in the morning after taking a shower, wear it all day, then wear it to bed, and then wear it to workout in the morning.  THEN he'll put it in the workout laundry pile, but his workout clothes constantly smell bad no matter how many times we wash them.  We use ammonia to deodorize and kill the smelly bacteria... still doesn't work.  I'm trying to convince him that we're going to label his shirts and that he needs to keep sleep/daytime/workout clothes separate.

And the bed... eeeek.  He is like a tornado!  The sheets are never tight and he steals all the covers.  More often than not, I end up without any sheets underneath me and no sheets on top of me.  He literally concoons all the sheets around him.  I re-make the bed every single night, but often he's already in bed so I have to struggle to pull the sheets tight around him (yep, he won't even stand up to let me do it - he tells me not to bother).

hahaha oh the bedmaking... H doesn't like it when I make the bed everyday, HOWEVER, it's a nightly routine that he has to hold onto the sheets and the blanket, line them up and shake them out so they are all perfectly alligned, THEN get into bed... I like to mess it up to piss him off :o)

I tried to just stay on the bed and not get off when he was making the bed once. It backfired on me. He tucked everything over me, and it was so tight I couldn't untuck it. So I had to ask him to, and he just flopped on top of me.....ahhh I miss my FI.

Not gonna lie... I looooove falling asleep with H, BUT the only times I wake up without my back hurting are the times when he's gone (like tonight) because I can lay out the way my back needs.. It's a catch 22 -_- hah
