Military Brides

Weekends?

How was yours?  What did you all keep yourselves busy with this weekend?

Friday my FI had a big law school event he's been planning for 2 years now, and it went off wonderfully, so that was really exciting.  So Friday night we were out celebrating with a bunch of his classmates who had a part in this event.  Thus Saturday was a bit of a hangover day for him!

Last night we went to the Barrister's Ball, which is essentially law school prom.  The theme was "Old Hollywood" so I had a red dress, and tried to go with a Marilyn Monroe hairstyle - it ended up looking a bit more Shirley Temple, but oh well!  I felt pretty and had fun!

Re: Weekends?

  • I love the pic of you with the icon herself :) I got some wonderful news this weekend so I spent it cleaning and shopping for a very special arrival.
  • I love your dress, and your hair is very cute!  Looks like you guys had a good time.  Glad everything went smoothly with your FI's event :)

I spent 5 hours yesterday shopping for the necklace I've been envisioning for the BMs.  Of course the last place I stopped (The Limited) had them and naturally they were way more than I wanted to pay, but I was kind of fed up at that point.

We had FI's family's monthly birthday party last night.  His aunt said our registry was "boring" which kind of rubbed me the wrong way.  I let it get to me and spent most of the evening adding things onto it.  But I got a little excited when I saw something on it was purchased!

  • I haven't done much this weekend.  I had a bird getting in our stove exhaust fan and it was building a nest, so I had to come up with a contraption yesterday to keep it out of there.  I'm becoming quite handy around the house with H gone.  I don't think I like it.

Other than that I just worked out and have been pretty lazy.  I still haven't finished my wreath yet, so I might make the flowers for that tonight to get it done.

    Crown- super exciting!

    Cal you looked awesome!

  • H and I bought a new couch and love seat. We got the money for moving expenses.i had no idea it would be that much so we spent half on furniture. We are setting up our grill tonight and I'm pumped.

  • Calindi  - I love that dress!  The color is gorgeous on you.

Spiffy - I had complaints that our registry was "boring" too since we really just registered for the basics.  We didn't want a ton of unnecessary stuff to haul around with us!  But that just meant people gave us cash, which will be super helpful once we actually get settled and need to furnish a home.  So don't worry about adding things you don't need just for the sake of having stuff on there!  It is pretty fun though Smile

My weekend was super boring.  I've spent tons of time studying for a midterm I have tomorrow.  I did go to Zumba yesterday, though!
  • H played paintball all day yesterday. I ran errands and grabbled lunch with a friend. Date night last night, and now I'm baking. :)
    Monster cookies mmmmmm
  • Spent the weekend at my ILs. It was my FSILs bridal shower and bachelorette party and it was so fun!! We went to a dance club and had a blast people watching and partying! Today is just laundry and cooking, got a risotto on tap for dinner!

    Me and my FSIL!

  • Not much for me this weekend... Just a bunch of errands and laundry and cooking. For dinner tonight: my special buffalo chicken pinwheels and parm. Fries. This was H's request :) Cal, you looked gorgeous!!!!
  • I didn't do too much either. Got about 75/100 programs done now working on homework. Next week is spring break so I have a lot due this week. Not enjoying this take home poly sci midterm of 4 essays :/
  • Cal- You look hot! That's a really great dress on you.
Hike- That may be one of the things I'm most looking forward to about FI coming home, we're buying a grill when he gets back for his b-day and I'm pumped.
Crown-Yay! It sounds like good things!

I haven't done too much. I cleaned the bathrooms yesterday and then started feeling pretty bad. I think I've caught whatever is going around because I feel like a truck ran me over. Archie, of course, does not understand this and has spent today chasing the cat around while I feebly yell at him to stop from the couch. I'm looking forward to GCB and the premier of Army Wives tonight. It's like the best worst soap opera.

I love Army Wives. I've been working on homework the past 2 hours (and taking short breaks on TK :P) so I'm done in time to watch it :D
  • I had my second dress fitting. It feels so real now.... this was the first time I tried on my dress and didn't have giant clips holding it up. I just love it...I had to choose my bustle and I was not prepared for that...American bustle looked really pretty with the detailing on my train... but it scared me that my giant cathedral length train would be held up by just one button.... so I went with a under bustle.. It still looks pretty. and you can partly see the detailing peeking out...but I can dance dance dance and not worry about the bustle breaking.

I (My mom) sewed my garters. (ooh lala) I bought all the materials for less than $6 and they look like the ones you buy in the store, and they are the exact color I want... so I'm happy with them.

I am watching Army Wives... but I must admit... I end up laughing at the over dramaticness of it all. Last year a friend of mine let me borrow all the seasons... and I watched them all in a short period of time... Someone always dies every season and it just seems so over dramatic every episode....But I still watch it..

  • Saturday was good, went to see a venue with friends of ours that we actually met through my old recruiter - both the guys were prior service enlisted Marines and the girls were going for Marine Corps OCS (but my blood pressure doesn't cooperate, grrrrrr, but Kort is still going which makes me super happy for her).  The captain may have been a tool but he knew what he was doing.  He sat us together at the Christmas mixer and they've been good friends ever since.  Anyway, Kort used to work at this hotel so we went to go see their ballroom then went for sushi.  I heart sushi with every fiber of my being.

Sunday instead of going to church I sat in my pajamas and drank wine.  Wine is Jesus approved.  I feel this was appropriate.
