Military Brides

I'm grouchy today!

Anyone else feeling the Oscar the Grouch? I don't know what my problem is. I think it's because I started my day at the DMV.

Anyone wanna be grouchy with me? What annoys you?

Anyone in a GREAT mood and want to post something cheerful?!

oh man NEVER start the day off at the DMV...
yeah today I'm annoyed with our officient.
She is awesome and is FI's best friend so I'm excited tohave her... We are paying for her hotel room while she is here for the few days as our "thank you" gift..
yesterday she called Fi asking is we could loan her the money for her plane ticket because she doesn't want to put it on her credit card but doesn't have the cash right now..
So you think that we do? a month between my school starts and a month before our wedding, we just would happen to have an extra 500 laying around? ugh.

I'm grouchy because I was supposed to be off tomorrow and Friday to go to the beach because FI's sister is getting married tomorrow. It was a last minute wedding so I wasn't able to ask off until 2 weeks ago. I get told today that they had to pull my days because we have so many people on Leave of Absence throughout the area's branches (I work in a bank). So now I can't go :(

The only benefit to this is that I got off for Sept 1 and 2 which means I have a 5 day weekend for Labor Day and FI and I are going to either go on a mini vaca or we're going to do a bunch of day trips...and we should be able to get our Engagement shots in soon. Soooo I'm grouchy but there has been a good outcome..I just have to wait 2 more weeks for my days off.

Oh shiit, that sucks. You're a good person though :-)

I'm kinda grouchy because I think it's time for me to go back to work. We go back on Monday but I'm ready and just feel bored. But then I feel guilty because I'll be leaving Geno and we spent every day together this summer. I hate leaving him. (Gross that I sound like Geno is a child)

I also hate living around here and H can't wait to be finished with recruiting but we have until January. I know it's coming up but it can't come fast enough.

agreed, I don't think it matters where you are located..all DMVs suck!

First: I'm sorry to hear about your officiant. I understand her not having the money but if she is able to put it on her CC, then she should. I think paying for the hotel room is "thanks" enough. I'm not sure how I would handle it because that is a delicate situation. Maybe explain to her that you guys don't have the money sitting around either? Or at the very most, offer half? but even then, it still isn't your responsibility IMO, even though she is your FI's best friend. She's known about this for a while I would assume, she should have planned accordingly.

It's either her put it on her CC or we put it on our CC... I don't really see the difference here. blah... Oh well

Hike- Why do you hate living around there? Is it spouses drama or just the area or what? I'm sorry you're having a blah day :(

I live in Northern Virginia right now. I moved here right out of college and LOVED it because of how many people were around and how much was going on. Now I hate that. It takes me 15 minutes to drive to my school which is 3 miles away. I can run home faster because of the traffic. It's just so crowded and EXPENSIVE. Rent is INSANE.

I'm grouchy because I'm terrible (and I mean TERRIBLE) at math, and with 4 1/2 minutes left in class today, my math teacher decides that it'll be a great idea to start on the next section.  We got in just enough to confuse the crap out of me.  SERIOUSLY!?! I mean why not just go over some questions in the book, if you're really that opposed to letting us out a few minutes early.  I'm pretty much over it now, and I got all my homework done, which reminds me... Why would you tell students that they have homework, but that you're never going to take it up and look at it.. That pretty much just says "Don't do it".  I do mine because I know how terrible at math I am, so I know that I need to extra practice if I want even a hope of passing, but really!? come on!!

hah Sami- None of my professors collect the hw, but I learned VERY quickly that it'll kill you if you don't do it... Still, I know a lot of people that don't. oi. I love math.. I'm sorry you're struggling. Jc what are you guys working on right now?

Hike- yeah I have to say that I'm glad I don't have to deal with any traffic. my commute is the opposite of traffic. Thank goodness because that would drive me crazy.

I'm grumpy because FI left for the weekend to go home for a buddy's commissioning. And he thought his flight was out of one airport but it was actually out of another more than 40 minutes away so he spent $100 on a cab to rush to catch his flight. And FI never has any money anyway after tuition and books, so that comes out of essentials like food and toiletries. But I was in generally a good mood today - I downloaded trial versions of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for work, used them to create a kickass email marketing piece, for which I retaught myself HTML coding. I impressed my boss and the higher-ups because they thought they would have to hire an outside contractor or two to do it all. And then I stayed after and played around and tried to make some swirly vector images for our STDs. I'm still really slow and clunky on it, but getting better!!! It's so much fun. Oh, and I spent my lunch break in a bathing suit by the pool of the condo building where my office is located, with a view of the bay! Talk about perks! The Vitamin E made me smile.

Calindi - that sounds like an AWESOME way to spend your lunch break.

I'm grumpy because I'm exhausted... working 12 hr shifts in the VA is very tiring, espeically with a 45-minute commute each way on top of that. And I have to work over the weekend, so it's a grand total of 16 days straight. Not to mention that a large portion of our patients just seem depressing and my heart just breaks for them.

Sometimes I wonder if I can really do this all my life.  Frown

FTL- I'm just talking basic college math (It's survey of mathmatics here).. I accidentally did more of the hw than I was supposed to, but I mean it can't hurt right? I had a teacher in middle school tell me that I had a learning disability, but can you have a learning disability in just math? I'm not sure.  They never tested me or anything, but I just feel like my mind doesn't work the way other people's do, especially when it comes to math.  I was telling C that H and I got into a fight because he was explaining how to do some sort of math thing in my head, and I got so frustrated that I started crying because it just made absolutely no sense to me.. Whatever.  Hopefully I can just get through this class..

Yes there are mathematics specific disabilities. I hate math, I can do it, but I just hate it. I managed to get through my entire undergrad and masters program with taking just one math course. Highlight of my college career was achieving that haha

Sami usually a learning disability is in one subject. For example, they would test someone in all subjects are compare those scores to the IQ. A learning disability is when a student scores low in a few different areas compared to their IQ. NOT that you have one. :-) they shouldn't have said that when there was no testing.

Sami - I'd be happy to try to help?  Maybe we can do it over Skype so I can see the problem, and you can see how I work things out?  I've tutored math many times... heck, I'm about to start taking on tutoring students so I can pay off the rest of the debt from being unemployed.  Practice can't hurt!!!

Just got done with Day 3 of Crossfit - ow!!!  But yay!!!!  I love the endorphins and the feeling after, but boy I hate that hour.  This is just the 'how to' week, also.  They train us how to do the movements so we don't hurt ourselves, and then we have a 'baby workout'.  Man, those 'baby workouts' hurt!  Only like 10 minutes, but phew... I kept moaning and groaning every time I had to stand up today!  And going to the bathroom is a process - I have to hold onto the wall and the sink to lower myself down because my legs can't handle it from all the squats and box jumps.  If they doesn't get me in good shape, I'd be shocked!

boo :( I'm sorry you've had such a crappy experience.  Like ^ said, it could very well be, but ya never know... Sometimes I think I think in weird ways compared to others.. but that's just because I'm weird :o)
If it makes you feel any better, I'm one of TWO women in our math department, and it's the best in the state. It's just not commonly a woman's field.. The sciences are still slow to increase the female #s... kinda sad doe 2011

I will also say don't be the one to be the last one either at the DMV  and expect to get your Lic. renewed with a new picture! That could ruin you for four years! True story: I was the last one in there before they locked the doors, by the time I got up to the counter there was just me left in there and all I need was a new picture...........see where I am going? .................they take the pic I sign the paper, then they hand me my new lic. I looked at it and was MORTIFIED, as I went to ask for a retake, I was able to get out Oh man! can I" and that is when they guy guided me out the SIDE door and said you need to leave out this door and pretty much shoved me out the door!

This picture is so hideous! People I have told said well go get another one they will retake it, which is true but I would have to pay another $12.00 and if they would have retaken it the day I went initially I wouldn't have had to pay extra like I would now. So I am pretty much stuck with this picture now for years. The state gets enough revenue off of us so why would I give them vain money?!

I laugh at it now but every time I have to show my driver's lic. I can only imagine what people are thinking! So I have learned NEVER go at the very end of their day you will regret it for years instead of a dayFoot in mouth

What made me grouchy today? Mr. Wonderful(being sarcastic) he calls like 8 times a day while I am at work drives me completely insane(sometime we hang up and less than 30 sec kid you not he calls me again!!

This morning was no different, so I left my cubicle and went into the conference room and told him off!

He told me the first call he was sorry that he called but wanted to say good morning to me since he was still sleeping when I left and that he wouldn't;t bother me again. No less then 2 minutes later my phone rings again It's him! I forget what it was that time. I am trying to reconcile this HUGE account, I have papers over my phone, piles of papers all over my desk and every time the phone rings I have to stop focusing on my spreadsheet, work sheet and the invoices I have in hand AND remove the pile of papers on my phone just to get to it! Damn if he calls back 2 more times in what seemed to be 30 sec! Tells me again that he wont call again! EVERYONE in our office can hear everyone's phone conversations, so when he asks what I want for dinner at 9 am come on! That is the furthest thing on my mind, or he's going to the store is there anything I can think of that I would like or we need, sweet I know but I am at WORK! and my mind isn't there to answer your question. Oh I need some tampax I have 2 left, not true but could you imagine that kind of converation at work??!! !!I was so focused on my work! Now I've lost my place getting the damn phone thinking it's a vendor calling.

Oh the one I hate is when he calls bitching about his daughter's you mention them and my blood boils, so after I am all pissed and unfocused I have to keep my composure as much as I was to slam the phone and shout obscenities at him for calling and at his daughters  for 5 minutes at least, and try to erase that whole phone call and try not to swear and TRY to get refocused. Ugghh so that is my pet peeve as well so I wont post it there to.

He drives me NUTS! Oh and then he has the nerve to cop attitude because I can't talk! HELLO! You pay my wage, insurance, 401K, vacation, and damn straight I'll give you all the attention you want when you call. Today another call was about going to a movie, and his daughter as well.

This has been going on for 5 years and I can't get this in his head not to call me! We have had numerous talk about this! So  I literally unplug my phone some days because the work is so detailed and intense. It's like calling a Dr. in the middle of surgery and asking what he needs for lunch while the heart is in his hands! Ok it's not that life thretening I know but you get the idea!.

When I get home he goes to bed about 3 hrs but before that he is glued to the TV and we don;t talk that much, we talk more when I am at work! Ughhh so that is what completely pissed me off today and every week day!

So yeah I answered two posts in one Laughing

sorry about my rant and the lengthEmbarassed

MOB - he sounds like my guy.  I turn my phone to silent during the day, and if I don't and he calls, I usually ignore the first time he calls and pick up the second.  He knows not to call a second time in a row unless it's an emergency - I respond better to emails and texts since it doesn't interfere with my day as much (and the boss can't hear)!

Thanks for the suggestions but, he is computer illiterate Undecided He has a lap top never used it we pay for 2 yrs of wireless internet for the thing since he signed a contract that I didn;t know about. I am willing to teach him but when I am ready he is too into his TV. I unplug the phone and plug it back in I have at least 3 messages from him. He doesn't know that if you dial the receptionist she will give me a message, I don;t DARE mention that!

When BIG boss is there I don;t even hesitate on unplugging it the worst is if the BIG boss calls me from out of state after I just hang up with Mr. wonderful and I think it's him! The way I answer it you can tell I am pissed and BIG boss has asked if everything is ok so I then have to blow rainbows and unicorns up his butt along with a bit of sunshine because I dare not tell him about my personal phone call.

Mr wonderful has a cell phone, but doesn't know how to get to a text message or a picture I have to do that. It's rare because everyone in the family knows how illiterate he is to a cell phone and computer.

I don;t have a cell phone the main reason is him! I mean even at home he no longer hobbles himself to the car gets in it and calls! and if I don;t pick up he will call and call and call! It is sorta funny tho when I am at home.
