Ours is less than three months away as of last week, so I'm getting nervous, but really excited. We finally settled on the menu last week, Southern style BBQ for FI. It was the one thing he really wanted, so we're doing it. Our dance lessons are finally resulting in progress, and I've settled on replacing his sword as a wedding present.

All of that sounds awesome, we did BBQ for our rehearsal and it was delicious! I wish we could have made dance lessons work. (He practiced with his mom the day before and it was adorable) Our dance was a cluster, but apparently everyone thought we took lessons or practiced when in reality we didn't do anything. H kept apologizes for stepping on my shoes but since I wore sneakers I never noticed :D

Are the swords expensive to replace?

P.s did you ever settle on a dress? shoes etc?

Dress and shoes are in my bio! Under my picture, where it says Stan is not the Man.

The NCO swords are 500 bucks or so, so not horrifying, but still a bit.

Stupid TK! I wrote this whole reply and TK ate it. Grrr... Okay, so happy for you, Shan for being married - yay!!! And so excited for you, Stan!!! We have booked the venue, photographers, and DJ (in that order). We asked our friend to officiate, and my brother to be brother-of-honor. We have chosen (but still have to book) the videographer, florist, and caterer. We still need to figure out tent and chair rentals, lighting, the dance floor, invitations & STDs, and general decorations. My Mom flies in on Monday to go dress shopping! We already bought my shoes (which should arrive today in the mail). FI wants to wait until a year out to select his groomsmen, though he knows which two he's considering, and most likely both of them. We've got exactly 15 months from today until we get married!!! And we're ridiculously ahead of schedule. We'll get all the big stuff finalized and have a year to work on the details and DIY projects.

That was me too and I would not have changed it for the world. I was getting compliments all night of how all the details came together and how thoughtful my DIY projects were (OOT Bags and Activity Bags for the Kids during mass and reception... were the most loved)

Lol, someone at work asked my theme, and I jokingly said that. When I said I was kidding, my boss was like, "No. No you're not."

So I've embraced it! It's more like "America. F yeah. Summer 1941."

Stan, is it weird that when I was at Parris Island this weekend, I kept picturing you as being one of the drill instructors?  I know you're going for OCS, so it wouldn't happen, but you'd be an awesome DI - so very moto!

And I went to a BBQ with FI's colleagues and their spouses, and I kept hoping DNBeach, Shan, Sami, etc. would be the spouses.  I didn't even realize I was hoping that until I was disappointed when I met the real spouses, who were perfectly nice.  It makes no logical sense, but all this was in my head all weekend!  I kept looking at female DIs expecting them to be Stan!!!

LOL! Enlisting is not off the table, so it could happen someday, though I think I will eventually try to be an O either way.

Have you ever had a gtg? I love meeting Nesties/MBs, I was volunteering last weekend thinking that maybe I'd run into some! :)

I think you should go for being an officer for sure.  It's just an easier lifestyle and better pay.  Both have their advantages, but I'm a big proponent of going in as an officer if you've already completed college.

I'm planning on having a GTG with Ggirl and Sami when I go up to visit FI next!  If anyone's ever in Miami, I'll buy you a mojito
    Cool

For me, it truly boils down to the fact that an enlistment = quicker deployment. I think I am qualified maturity wise to be a leader now, but becoming a leader whilst enlisted can't hurt, and I'll get to deploy much, much more quickly, and sans PTAD at the OSO. *shudder*

I would tell good people to go O too, if I thought they had the right stuff, so I appreciate your confidence in me!

I may take you up on that. I'd say come visit us but there is nothing really sweet where we are going. :/ But I will say it is the best base he has been since the academy but I love Colorado.
