so i have short hair.. and i dont mean bob short hair i mean pixie cut short hair. lol, well any how, i did post on the hair 411 board but i know more than likely i will actually get some sort of a response from you wonderful ladies. i need suggestions on what to do with my hair, its short but im sure someone could suggest something cute and feminie. (in case y'all havent noticed im not exactly in touch with my girly side lol)

Do you mean you want a new 'do, or do you mean for your wedding? If for your wedding, you could see if your stylist could give you hair extensions. Also, what would you think of going brunette? I think it would look nice with your skin tone! Hopefully CAB sees this post, I feel like she'd have something really useful to say!

KendallR10- kind of, like it is but they are all relitivley short layers to keep it from looking shaggy or messy. the short layers just kind of help it to lay fly and not get all tangled. ill post a pic of it so you can see what i mean. 

BinxRose -my stylist has tried extentions with me but for whatever reason (i think it is because it is so thin) she has a hard time getting them to stay in. in regards to the brunette idea. ive tried so many times to color my hair dark, i went as far as having my stylist color it black brown.... and lucky me was going blonde within a month.. i dont know what it is but my hair doesnt like to hold the dye.. it isnt as yellow as it looks in the pic the lighting is just bad, its actually more of an ashy blonde. 

LetsHikeToday - head bands would be a great thing to look in to, i have like 20 of them lol, i guess i just never thought of using one for a wedding style. and in regards to the style. i just keep it short because it makes it alot easier to deal with for work.

I have a friend that has hair like yours and we just flipped up her layers at the ends and put in a hair band with her birdcage veil.

oh, that would be cute. there are so many things you can do with headbands that i never thought of. i think im gonna play with the idea when i get home today and see what fun styles i can come up with

have you tried a new hairdresser? haha... There are many different types of extensions that you may have luck with a different "type". I agree that your option, if you don't want to go wig and can't hold extensions, is a pretty super feminine hair jewelry piece from a place like etsy.

FTL ill def look into that. though being statoined in Yuma of all places it tends to limit options on things of that nature. and sure enough i am a natural blonde, it is still fading out from the last time i colored it dark, my natural color is actually lighter than that.

Yeah ditto Etsy, I could look at their bridal headpieces all day long. Depeding on your dress/feel of the wedding, I could see something fun and feathery or a silvery beaded headband that lays flat on your head--almost like a sash or something you could tie on. I might have to go look at Etsy just for fun...

my dress is a a-line strapless with a chappel length train, it is white, corset boddice, with a tule skirt, and intricate beading all over the boddice and skirt. it almost looks like small pearls stiched down to form small flowers

i love vintage. its part of the reason i got my dress because it was more of a vintage feel and classic. its actually a few yrs old my mom found it at a bridal shop a few months back and they had forgotten it was in the store room, lucky me it was my size and fit perfectly

I'm growing out my pixie a bit before the wedding.  I was in NYC this summer and decided to chop it all off!  It was super fun and even shorter than yours!  Right now we are at about the same length. FI loves me with chin-length hair, so I'm growing it out a bit.

I think everyone gave you great suggestions.  My hair was on the shorter side for my wedding, and I went the headband route.

Although, if you have 16 months, there's always the option to grow it out a bit!

Yay short hair!  Mine's been shorter than yours, though I've been trying not to cut too much for the last 6 months or so since I know I want it a bit longer for the wedding.  So right now it's just at chin-length.

For your hair, if you can, have a hair dresser add some low-lights, which will give dimension to the style.  Right now your layers are rather angular, and a bit more of a flow will give it a more feminine look, if that's what you're going for (specifically rounding off the back rather than the angle it's currently at, and evening the layers around your ears).

I'm a big fan of a flower pin to make hair feminine, with soft waves so it looks all vintage-y and girly.

headband, birdcage veil, cute headpiece... all great ideas. another one i might suggest is seeing your stylist and having her help you brighten the color closer to your normal or just brightening the shade a little bit. i'm always amazed at how much hair color can really make a hairstyle pop. your hair is short but there really is a lot you can do with it! you have plenty of time to play around with it!

thank you all for the amazing suggestions! i plan on going in and having a color correction done to "fix" what it is now, im going to go a little lighter (closer to my natural color) and have some low lights put in. im going to try and grow it out some but with me it never seems to happen because i get irritated with it lol.

lmarsh - I hear you, if it touches the back of my neck, I go a bit scissor-happy.  I've been known to trim it myself and go to the hairstylist later to fix it.  I find it really funny that Google thinks "short hair" means shoulder length.  So mine now would be "super short" and yours would be "micro short"?  WTF?!  I always felt like shoulder length was medium length and anything longer was long.  Guess not!

Go to a stylist off base for sure, check out local beauty schools as they often have some rather talented people (or at least are being supervised by talented people) and are SUPER cheap!  Bring pictures of the styles you like.  I think the third from the bottom and the second to the bottom would be GREAT cuts with your face shape, and would be super easy with the military lifestyle, too!  It doesn't look like you'd even have to grow out your hair to get those looks.  You could just let it air dry or quick blow dry on work days, and add a little styling gel for going out or big events where you wanna look fabulous!

(For what it's worth, I had the cut that is the 3rd from the bottom and LOVED it - and will probably hack it off to that literally the day after the wedding, no joke!)

i have NEVER and will NEVER go to a stylist on base.. i have seen some serious bad things happen to peoples hair.. i also learned first hand that with something to never go to a beauty school. cutting short hair is challenging and a lot of new stylists arent comfortable with it. (found out the hard way and nearly had to chop it ALL off)

and i know exactly what you mean with peoples idea of "short hair" ill be honest, i get frusterated sometimes becuase of what society mainstreams women should look like (its SO dumb and uncalled for) but im not even going to get in to that lol.
