How does this happen??

Clicky

CN: A Marine wife, mother of 2 with a 3rd on the way, has no way to afford clothes for her children due to the outstanding debt her and her husband have. It says that they took out 3 loans in the past for the summer (not sure what that even means) and for school.

Huh.... I dunno.  I mean, I get how debts pile up, but what they need is a financial advisor rather than charity right now.  It will help more in the long term.

And I feel wrong saying this, but if you can't even afford clothing for your two kids, it's rather irresponsible to not take precautions to prevent a third, at least until you are able to stabilize your debt.  Because that means an extra mouth to feed and another body to clothe.  Birth control and condoms are very inexpensive compared to another child!

Cal-you read my mind. I understand how debts pile up and such, I get that, but I don't know how they let it go on this long and got that bad, and yet didn't invest in B.C. I pay $5 a month for my generic with Tricare.

Edit: got that Bad, not bed.

Yup, ditto the BC. That's what always bugs me--bad things happen to good people, unforseen circumstances, etc. But do something to prevent a further downward spiral please!

Isn't that site ridiculous? Definitely some are deserving and such, but others are sooooooo not deserving. I can't believe no one monitors what gets posted. It makes me feel bad for the ones who probably are doing everything right and are struggling, because their wish gets lost in the mess of people with 8 kids.

Um.. I know that if you use Express scripts, which is Tricare approved no?, you can get a 90 day supply of BC for a grand total of.. FREE.  I read in cosmo that under the Affordable Health Care act BC will be free anyway.

H and I would probably never get ourselves into this situation, but I agree with LOL, he would probably divorce me if I ever posted anything like that!! I mean, who's life wouldn't be easier with a loan? but it's just that a loan.. if you can't pay it back.. how in good conscience could you even apply for one?  How old is that couple? (I didn't see it..)

Posted by SamiJoeB[/QUOTE]<div>Well, because I'm a stalker, I did a google search and found that she had posted on beaufort's yardsale website. She's 25. I don't get how you take 3 loans out in one summer? Also, what is the cost of childcare on base? I'm not sure, but I am not sure why she couldn't get a job, working an opposite shift of her husband, even for a few days week? If you're that bad off, you find a way to make money. I mean, it would be tough with his schedule, but its doable, as many couples make it work. </div><div>

Irresponsible parents irritates the sh!t out of me. It's a subject that I am opiniated about. If you cannot provide for your children, you should not be having them in the first place! People can easily get condoms for free at health centers if they don't have access to other forms of birth control, or abstain from having sex if all else fails!

I understand that the economy sucks and people can easily pile up their debts, but there are other ways to getting their children clothes, what about a Goodwill, Salvation Army or some other thrift store? I refuse to believe that they are that broke to even shop at places like those. There are ways to make it work, she can always get a job, she doesn't have to be a SAHM.

I agree with LOL too, my H would be furious and ashamed if I were ever to post something like this on the internet.

Also, reading that whole site kind of pisses me off.  Probably 1-in-10 sound like legitimately deserving situations.  I feel heartless, but the rest seem to be looking for a handout to justify their bad decisions and lack of financial discipline.  Like people who have 7 kids and can't afford to get them Christmas presents.... I feel sad for them, but not motivated to pay for it.

Who sponsors this website?? WTF. FI and I are both AD, but he would be mortified if I posted something like this, even if I was a SAHM, and not employed. This is what Airman's Attic/ Airman Family & Readiness Center, Falcon Loans, etc. are for in the AF. I'm sure there are equivalent options/ programs in the other services. Shouldn't this woman's husband's CO know if they were in such bad shape? It is the CO or supervisor's job to counsel, esp if debt is bad enough to threaten security clearance, which if it really is this bad, it might be.

Here's how I look at it: their kids shouldn't suffer because they are fvck ups. They screwed up but their kids don't have clothing they need. That makes me sad.

This makes me sad for the kids.  They are teaching them nothing about fiancial management.  I think (could be wrong b/c I have a doctor) that you can go the health deparment and get free BC and again it is FREE!

Also, what type of places gave them three loans?  I mean a long time ago, when I was just barley out of college, I went to get a loan for a car and they said that I had too much debt and my pay check would not cover my living expenses and the payment for that loan.   It sounds like they went to some payday loan place or one of those car titles place either way it is crazy interest.  Just getting into more trouble.

Oh and Sami a PS3 is a need.  How else can they spend countless hours on Call of Duty?  WinkHAAAA just kidding!!!

Oh and yeah my H would be so mad his head would explode if I posted something like that.
