RSVP

What do y'all think is the absolute earliest we can put for our RSVP deadline? We have a lot of out of towers so our guest count is so up in the air so the sooner we can have a more accuarate count the better. Thanks

Re: RSVP

  • The RSVP date on ours was about 3 weeks before, however we were in a resort area and it was spring so the rooms at the resort where we got married fills up fast so we did send out more of what I like to call a "hotel card" with the information about make reservastions at the resort. I mean I guess is was technically a save the date but I didn't send it out to in town guests.

  • Sounds like a plan! I guess there's no rule on sending them out early! I'm defenitely going to do that. I need to order them now! Thanks everyone :)

Just make sure you send them out in batches of people who know each other!  You don't want someone you planned on maybe inviting to see the invite on someone else's fridge and wonder why they didn't get one - it'll make them realize they were B list.

So send them to groups - if you know you're inviting Neighbor A but not sure about Neighbor B, then hold off on them both if they socialize.  If you're inviting College Friend A but maybe not College Friend B and you know they might talk about it, hold off on both of them.  Does that make sense?

  • Yes it does. I don't really have an A and B list. My mom just has a few friends from tennis that she may want to invite if budget allows. I'm going to just send to out of towners first and see what kind of response I get. They are mostly family friends from our air force days so they are spread all over the country. :)

  • Well I know this sounds bad, but if a lot of people can't make it, we want to (well my mom want to) invite some others since there will be room for more. Plus like I said we have so many out of towners that our count can vary drastically, so I'd like to have an accurate count to let our cake lady know (bc we may only need a cake that feeds 100 as oppose to 200) and also to just have a better idea of how much the reception is going to cost.

  • A little late - but I was in your situation. We did an A list - all of OOTs and a B list - local friends. Our B list goes out on the 20th and our A list went out last month, just after Christmas.
But our RSVP deadline is 4 weeks out from the wedding. It's 2/10 for a 3/3 wedding. We did this because we had to have the final headcount 2 weeks prior and then I knew I would need time to track down (what appears its going to be a rather large number) the guests who hadn't returned one to us yet.

    HTH.
