A friend showed me this on Pinterest, and now I really want to have something similar for my reception! Anyone know how to go about buying or renting a parachute, and how much it would be??
Honestly, I doubt you will find a place that has legitamate parachutes, to let you rent one. They can't run the risk that you will put holes into it.
I'm not so sure that's an actual parachute (and if it is, it's one out of commission so you could go to a skydiving place and ask if they have any old ones? ). It may be just creative draping.
hmm.. strange. Yeah definitely probably a rental specialty though. No place is going to rent that out for a wedding and then USE it for someone, ya know?
Yeah, it has to be a parachute no longer in use, but I'm sure they exist. Have you checked eBay or something like that? I'm sure there are old parachutes out there, but I don't have a clue where they would be. Maybe an Army Navy Surplus store? They seem to sometimes have random stuff like that. It's a beautiful look! Who would set it up for you?
FTL- You said it could be some kind of draping. If I don't have any luck with a parachute, any ideas how I would get such a large piece of material to do something similar, and what kind of material I should use?

I'm sure my dad and stepdad would have no problem. Probably some of the groomsmen too if need be. My venue has high ceiling so we'd need tall ladders, but I know it can be done because I've seen those papers lantern balls hanging there too.
I have nothing helpful to add too but I just wanted to say that it's pretty! My venue had a lot of draping like that too, but with cloth and the lighting would change. Here's a picture:
Maybe you can do something like this, but a lot bigger if you can't find a parachute?
Binx: Unfortunately I don't really know what they used with it, but as far as I can tell it's just white drapey cloth material. They had it on the walls too. I'm sure party rental companies could possibly have stuff like that. And I am so excited and ready too! I can't wait!

LOL I have my moments. ;) I'm around occasionally. Things are getting kinda busy with the holidays and work. Usually this is the "slow period" in the military, but our unit is gearing up for a deployment, so I'm involved in all the logistical stuff until I go into labor. I'm hoping it'll put me in labor. I'm 34 weeks today and SOOOO ready to have this baby! :) I just did 6 loads of laundry- washing all her blankets, bedding, and clothes, but I haven't found the energy to fold any of it yet. :/

<div>Hey binxy! Sorry I was a post and run today.. I just got hoem from studying -__- uuuugh it's a long week already and only a Tuesday. *sigh* </div><div>So.. draping. Most rental companies will do draping FOR you, and there are also specialty draping companies. You would have to look in your area, but it's pretty common for wedding so I can't imagine it would be difficult to find. </div>
I found that we need to be searching for "parachute canopy" online. I just emailed a company. If I have to buy it, I don't mind renting it after the wedding.
Hey!! I'm getting married and would absolutely LOVE to do this! Did you have any luck? If you did end up getting one are you still interested in renting? Please email me with any info! Thanks!! (amandalled@aol.com).
I was wondering if you had any luck find the parachute or something to use. If you could email me and let me know would be great! Chelsea.nelsonsmail.astate.edu
I am trying to do something exactly like that photo from Pinterest. I just don't see anything as far where to find one. Did you ever find something for your wedding that was that large or similar? Thanks!
