displaying awards

How do you feel about displaying FI's/ H's awards from the military? Even the ones that are next to nothing in signifigance?

We each have brag walls. We have framed and displayed both of our awards over the years

I feel like if he wants them displayed then he can display them. It's really his choice more than mine. I'd let him do whatever he wanted.

I have some of my academic awards and my degrees/certificates up, and he has the ones he cares about (like his air medal) up.

    ETA: They're in the library.

I don't put that stuff in the living room, but FI has a whole wall in the guest room/office.

That's a really cute idea! We should do that for the office or something..
Fi has his important three: Degree, Commissioning, and one more for the plane he flies. It's not really an "award" but it's a really cool thing he got for his winging with the two planes he learned how to fly in, and then the one he flies now.
All three look very nice and sleek so I like them, but I don't think we would hang any others around the living rooms or hallways.

If it were up to FI he wouldn't really hang much up, so I take it upon myself to make sure he realizes that he has loved ones who are proud of him. In our hallway - near our entry way I have a picture of us at homecoming #2 up and a picture of him during deployment #1 up next to each other and then I just put his re-enlistment certificate up and a letter of commidation (he says its nothing - but it talks about how much of an asset he is and all the awesome things he's helped do) hanging up. That's really it so far.

My brag wall use to be above the couch in my living room (when I lived by myself)

Now we have our degree's on the wall/entryway that slipts into the bedrooms with the rest of them up in our office/guestroom. We didn't want to "hid" our favorites.

Obviously, H's side, The top picture my FIL took during H's graduation. He was trying to take video and at the time didn't realize he got an impossible shot (with the shadow of the fly over)

    My more boring side. LoL

I will admit I am slightly irked about the bolded/underlined part.

It's an award, an accomplishment, not given out to JUST anyone. Even if it's completing Basic it's an accomplishment. Thousands don't have the guts to go through basic, many don't make it through. Any award from the military should be significant. IMO

FI wanted to frame the orders he got when he moved over here. Are those really signifigant?

we have the flag that was given to to FH after his depolyment in the kicten ontop the cubboards with some family pictures.

it may just be me, but I don't want to display our awards.  FH and I both are in and are proud of what we do and have done, but we're also kinda private.  We open up about our service on our own terms and I think hanging stuff up will have be ask about it, when sometimes I jsut don't want to talk about it.

so maybe the title of this post should have been "displaying orders" since you were aware of it.
Did he win you at a carnival game? :)
