I'm very new with military clauses so bear with me. I'm hoping to get some might shed onto my situation for planning purposes. Last year, I signed a lease that would start in August 2012 with my maiden name prior to knowing that I was going to get married. I am now newly married and I wanted to move out to his base this summer if the school situation doesn't work out here. My hubby says that I can use the military clause to get out of the lease that hasn't even started. I wanted to do my research before I went in and talked to the leasing staff about this. Now the question is, would I be able to do this? Also if I gave H power of attorney and he spoke to them regarding the lease, would that work even if he doesn't have any orders for a while yet? I'm okay with subleasing if needed but I wanted to learn about the military clause while I was at it. Any info and/or experiences will be helpful!
