QOTD 10/13/11 Thursday...

I'm super sick, and lacking lots of energy this morning (this is a bad thing considering where I work, and that I'm at work as I type this!) ... 1. Time you went to bed last night?
7:30pm.. I get up at 3:30 on Thursdays, and I woke up today feeling terrible, so, I'll probably go to bed around the same time tonight.
    2. Tea or Coffee?
I'm drinking tea right now.  "Get Gorgeous" tea.  it's a red tea and very fruity and it's pink so that's a plus.. always! It's made by the Republic of Tea, which IMO has the best teas ever.  They have this whole "Be Well" line of teas that has everything from Get Gorgeous (which is for your skin) to Get Lost (helps with weight control) to Get Passionate (helps boost your sex drive).. I've tried a lot of them and I love them all.. Oh! and there's also this Pomegranate Vanilla Tea that I had at my wedding venue last year that's out of this world!! I Love tea..
    3. Things you can't live without? (THINGS, not people.. people aren't things!)
Toothbrush, toothpaste (I'm obsessed with brushing my teeth), Hope in a Jar, comfy sweats, Ben & Jerry's Phish Food, Cookout Sweet tea.
    4. Ten Million Dollars... what would you do with it?
Donate to my favorite charities, buy something shiny like diamond earrings or my dream car, let H invest some and save the rest.. If we had any debt, I'd pay that off first though.. but we don't.
    5. Toys.. what was your favorite growing up?
I had a drum set that I used to like to play naked, and a rocking horse that I would only ride naked a la Lady Godiva.  Other than that I was obsessed with my Easy Bake Oven, my LiteBrite & Polly Pocket.
    6. Traditions that you love? (Family, Weddings, any traditions..)
I love the something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.  I'm also liking the newish trend of First Look photos...
    7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions)
Not seeing the Bride until the wedding.. Pshh whatever.
    8. Teacher Crushes?
All the girls had crushes on this one hunky teacher Coach George (he was totally gorgeous), but I was crushing on Coach Luck who was my HS History Teacher... and oddly enough though he and H were/are Marines, they are both kind of on the short side, and both runners..
    9. The ultimate comfort food?
    Macaroni & Cheese.
    10. Tell us about your last kiss..
January 1st 2011, H and I were at SeaTac and he was boarding his flight to go back to Japan. I don't think it had really hit me yet that I wouldn't see him again for more than a year, but it was a good kiss.. a both hands on the face kiss.  He hated having to leave me, and I hated him leaving.  He called me a few minutes later and talked to me till they took off.. mostly because he knew I'd forget where we parked the car and he knew I'd be crying and upset.  I can't wait to lay one on him again!!Wink

    1. Time you went to bed last night? 10:15 pm. I took my melatonin around 10 and was asleep in 15 minutes!
    2. Tea or Coffee? I'm a coffee addict. I drink a HUGE one every morning.
    3. Things you can't live without? (THINGS, not people.. people aren't things!)Coffee, Books, Hoodies, Sneakers, Flip Flops, my dogs (do they count?), apparently my Ipad
    4. Ten Million Dollars... what would you do with it? buy a house, buy my brother a house, help my parents retire
    5. Toys.. what was your favorite growing up? We played outside. We rode bikes, played kickball, and just walked around the neighborhood. I also liked cabbage patch dolls.
    6. Traditions that you love? (Family, Weddings, any traditions..) Christmas. We don't necessarily have traditions but everything about my family and christmas, I love
    7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions) Honestly, when I was in the limo for my wedding, I started to question the whole "wedding" idea. What is it? Why do we do it? I was sitting in this bright white dress that was hard to sit in and I was off to see my fiance who I didn't sleep with the night before even though we lived together for over a year. I understand weddings mean something to people, I just started to question the whole process.
    8. Teacher Crushes? Nada
    9. The ultimate comfort food? Oh my gosh. Um. Chicken fingers and fries, wings, my mom's chicken noodle soup, her macaroni salad.
    10. Tell us about your last kiss.. It was yesterday when H came home from work. It was a good kiss. I was picking up stuffing that the dogs got out of a pillow and he stopped me to kiss me. We didn't kiss before bed though. He had a dip in and I only hug when he is doing that. Gross!

    1. Time you went to bed last night?
11:00 give or take 30 minutes
    2. Tea or Coffee?
Both. I love hot green tea, but I'd be lost without coffee - esp Starbucks.
    3. Things you can't live without? (THINGS, not people.. people aren't things!)
my phone, my laptop, my flip flops, jeans, cowboy boots, coffee
    4. Ten Million Dollars... what would you do with it?
Hm. Well I would put a lot into savings. Each future child would have money in a bank account for school, I'd give our parents some money. Pay off our house and buy a new one that's on land, buy a car - pay off all debt, I'd go back to school, buy a few horses, and clothes of course. I would just really buy some things that we want/need and save the rest/invest maybe.
    5. Toys.. what was your favorite growing up?
Barbie dolls I guess. I didn't really play with many/much toys - I was always outside playing ball or something.
    6. Traditions that you love? (Family, Weddings, any traditions..)
My mom always gives us new PJ's every year on Christmas Eve and we get to open one gift.
    7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions)
Really not a fan of the garter, bouqet tosses.
    8. Teacher Crushes?
I don't think I ever really had any...
    9. The ultimate comfort food?
    ice cream and potatoes.
    10. Tell us about your last kiss..
FI was leaving about an hour ago for a command bike ride - kissed him good bye - morning breathe and all (I was still in bed)
Hike - my FI used to dip to - yuck. I made him brush his teeth before he got a kiss from me, thankfully he quite almost a year ago actually. uck.. i hated that stuff.

    1. Time you went to bed last night? Probably around 1:30 a.m. I'm a night owl and our air is broken, so I'm sleeping on the couch by the sliding door in the living room. Fell asleep watching t.v. Woke up and Angel was on, love that show.
    2. Tea or Coffee? I make sun tea with Luzianne iced tea bags. Delicious.
    3. Things you can't live without? (THINGS, not people.. people aren't things!) Diet Coke, my stuffed turtle Albert, cable, Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion.
    4. Ten Million Dollars... what would you do with it? Pay off FI's car, my student loans, my sister's student loans, buy my Dad a new house, put some in investments, give some to charity, and probably have a small shopping spree.
    5. Toys.. what was your favorite growing up? Loved My Little Ponies and Barbies.
    6. Traditions that you love? (Family, Weddings, any traditions..) Hmmmm, most of them, probably, I'll have to think and edit.
    7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions) I really really hate the garter toss and bouquet toss at weddings where it's just kind of thrown in. Like, you haven't really done anything else, but oh, here's this. I don't like them to begin with, but if you're going to do it, do it...right?...I guess.
    8. Teacher Crushes? Funnily enough, my first kiss. I was 15, he was 23, he was the Australian ACE teacher, Mr. Tannock. Soooo  cute.
    9. The ultimate comfort food? Mac & Cheese, or pork chops and rice.
    10. Tell us about your last kiss.. This morning when FI left.

    1. Time you went to bed last night? Fell asleep on the couch around 8:30. Woke up at 9:30 and just went to bed. 2. Tea or Coffee? Coffee (caffeine free) 3. Things you can't live without? (THINGS, not people.. people aren't things!) My Droid, lipgloss/chapstick, my iPad 4. Ten Million Dollars... what would you do with it? Pay off our loans (car, school), put away more for our wedding, put a bunch in savings for the future (house, kids, etc), then travel the world while donating 5. Toys.. what was your favorite growing up? Nintendo Gameboy (the older grey one, not one of the sweet colored ones) 6. Traditions that you love? (Family, Weddings, any traditions..) My FI and I are atheist, but I still love Christmas time. It just gives me warm fuzzy feelings :) I just love gettong together with friends and family, eating good homemade food, and I love giving gifts! 7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions) I guess any "gender role/expectation." Example: women should stay home to take care of the kids. I mean if they want to, that's totally cool. I just don't like the idea of feeling you SHOULD or SHOULD NOT do something just because you are a woman/man. 8. Teacher Crushes? One of my former professors. I had him for two classes while in school. I think he's about 34. He is so handsome...I could listen to him lecture all day long. Mmmmm :) 9. The ultimate comfort food? A simple recipe my mom and stepdad made growing up: Cook bone-in chicken in Cambells cream of celery soup (dont add water) in the oven. Then serve the chicken and "soup" over rice. It just tastes like home to me! 10. Tell us about your last kiss.. A goodnight/goodbye kiss two days ago. FI left for a month-long det. Boo.

amh, how did your FI quit? My FI had been dipping since high school. He was going through a tin every couple days before we started dating. The frequency went way down once I moved here. His official "quit day" was Aug. 26th (our anniversary). But he's admitted he's dipped a few times since then. I've tried so many things...rewards for going a week etc, alternatives for his mouth (beef jerky in tins, gum, he likes to chew on straws). Any other advice?

    2. Tea or Coffee? I love tea.. lovveee it. But sometimes I need that extra push in the mornings with coffee
    3. Things you can't live without? (THINGS, not people.. people aren't things!) My laptop. Being a techy nerd I NEED my computer. My life is on it. …Speaking of which I should probably back up my laptop…. Err..
    4. Ten Million Dollars... what would you do with it? Pay off FIs debts. Pay off FILs house. Buy my pink sports car that I want, put the rest of the money except for 1m in savings. The 1m will be the vacation fund. Because I love vacations.

    6. Traditions that you love? (Family, Weddings, any traditions..) Every Christmas eve we make perogies(polish pasta stuffed with cheesy mashed potatoes) from scratch. It has been a tradition as long as I have been alive and you can’t come into the family unless you love the potato pasta. Don’t worry FI passed with flying colors.
    7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions) I love tradition, so this is hard… I really hate the whole  dressing up and begging for candy part of Halloween.
    8. Teacher Crushes? I never had any…
    9. The ultimate comfort food? Mashed Potatoescheesy anything.
    10. Tell us about your last kiss..  Last Monday, It was outside of the JAX airport and it was pouring down rain. It sounds a lot more romantic than it was, I was late to the plane and the stress of the crazy rainstorm wasn’t helping.

    1. Time you went to bed last night? Roughly 11:30
    2. Tea or Coffee? If it's hot, definitely coffee.  But I also love Iced Grande Nonfat Caramel Macchiato's from Starbucks :) And being a Southern girl, I'm all about some sweet tea :)
    3. Things you can't live without? (THINGS, not people.. people aren't things!) my iPad, my car, the radio
    4. Ten Million Dollars... what would you do with it? Pay off my and FI's student loans and his car. Invest a lot of it for our (future) kids, invest a lot for our retirement, buy myself a new car, maybe buy us a vacation home :)
    5. Toys.. what was your favorite growing up? I had a Cabbage Patch doll that I took everywhere!
    6. Traditions that you love? (Family, Weddings, any traditions..) I love my family's Christmas traditions. And I am so excited for FI and I to start our own family traditions :) Also, FI and I are starting a weekend tradition of getting the air mattress out and putting it in front of the TV for lazy Sundays..this works out great right now since it's football season!
    7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions) I can't really think of any right now.
    8. Teacher Crushes? I'm drawing a blank on his name at the moment but my Stats teacher in college..he was so hot!
    9. The ultimate comfort food? Cheese pizza or mac and cheese
    10. Tell us about your last kiss.. It was on Monday night when FI left to go back to Ft Bragg. It was the big hug and lots of little kisses kind ;) We're so close to the wedding, that I hate when he leaves because I want him to be here for the last month to help with my freak out moments and just help with last minute details.

EDIT: Haha, I just realized I said I love hot coffee and then I named my favorite cold coffee drink.

My H still dips.  He says he wants to quit, but I don't push it because I know he won't actually quit until it's important to him.  Just like I wouldn't lose weight until it was important to me.  He's gone like 2 weeks or so, but then he jumps right back on the band wagon.  I like the smell of it, and I actually have an empty can in the console of my car.. just makes me think of him.

I'm not sure what exactly made him do it? Thinking back on it - I had told him that I really wanted him to quit before we had kids. I think he dipped less than a handful of times since Nov/Dec. He ran out one night and said I want to see how long I can go - so I guess it was just time? He stopped practically cold turkey for the most part. I mean less than 5 times in a year is amazing. He was doing about a can every 4-7 days. I told him to chew gum - that helped a lot I think - because he used wintergreen grizzly - so similar taste - you can put gum in your lip. COD (call of duty) was a good distraction for him (FI has always loved that stupid game tho) I will say this - that man was a moody jerkface tho! Oh goodness it took a lot out of me not to snap back on him when he was quitting. So that part wasn't fun. I will say I did bring up the whole - you would save like $300 a year line. I actually did calculate it (a can or so a week times 52 weeks adds up).

OH! and Don't bring up the whole - wow I'm proud of you - you've gone a week, or X days without doing it. FI said that it made it worse because it would remind him how long he had been without it. He still nics some times (not sure if that is the right spelling for that) but he said it isn't nearly as bad as it was.

COD makes it WORSE for my FI because when he would play, he always had a dip in and a beer. So it's an association for him! Same with work, flying in the helos makes him wanna dip cuz he associates it. My FI was a moody jerkface too when he cut WAY ("quit") back in August haha! I know he wants to quit, but he's tempted so much. Especially when the guys in his shop dip.

Like I said before, it has to be 100% him.  Whenever I've thought I was helping by encouraging him or wahtever, he later told me that I was actually making it worse.  My H actually hid the fact that he dipped from me for like 3 months, and then one day was like "I have a secret" not something a gf wants to hear.. ever! but he told me and I was like, oh, yeah I know! you have a can ring in the front pocket of all your jeans.  I know that he won't quit until he decides to do so for good.  The sooner the better, but I know it's not something I can force him to do..

    1.  Time you went to bed last night? 9:30 p.m.  Had a skype date with the H
    2. Tea or Coffee? I don’t really drink a lot of either.  I am a Diet Dew kind of girl.  Going to my southern roots I will have to answer this question with Sweet Tea!
    3. Things you can't live without? (THINGS, not people.. people aren't things!)
My flat iron.  I would look like a crazy curly haired woman without it.  Oh and my hair products for when I wear my hair curly.
    4. Ten Million Dollars... what would you do with it?
I would put my hair stylist on my payroll so she could do my hair every day.  There is nothing better than that salon feel.  I would also pay off loans and then buy a bar on an island to be run by me and friends.
    5. Toys.. what was your favorite growing up?
Big Wheel.  I cannot even tell you how many I went through.  I was always challenging people to races and I crack the tire.  HAA
    6. Traditions that you love? (Family, Weddings, any traditions..)
My mom has always given me PJs for Christmas and she would/still leaves them on the bushes outside like they fell out of Santa’s sleigh.  7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions) The garter/ bouquet toss
    8. Teacher Crushes?
Driver’s Ed teacher, he was an assistant football coach as well and all of the students called him “Legs” and he was/still is pretty hot.
    9. The ultimate comfort food?
    French fries and pizza
    10. Tell us about your last kiss..
It was a while ago as H was leaving for deployment day so I some ways it was kind of sad really.  Involved puffy eyes, tears, and snot.  YUM.  I bet he loved that.  I will happily tell you about the welcome home kiss when it happens! It should be much better.

Also, I am the main cook for all Christmas and Thanksgiving events. That's right ladies, I cook for about 50 people (or more!) twice a year! It's so fun, I'm bummed that I will miss cooking for Christmas this year, because we will be returning from our honeymoon on the 24th!
    7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions) My family is alll about the dollar dance at weddings. I don't super side eye it because I am used to it, but we won't be having it at our wedding because I know FI's family is going to judge us for it! LOL
    8. Teacher Crushes? Oh, it was my 7th grade sub teacher. He was a hottie. Mr. McCormick was his name! LOL I can't believe I still remember that!
    9. The ultimate comfort food? Bust out the deep fryer! Jalapeno poppers, onion rings, fries, fried pickles, and a fatty burger with cheese. Ohhhh man.

Yeah, at FI's old shop everyone dipped. His best friends still do it so I think the combination of him PCSing to a new shop and not seeing his best friends every day helped him too. Yeah - that used to be his nightly routine dip, beer, and COD. Thank god it isn't anymore. I agree with Sami - it really needs to be his decision or else he won't stick with it. FI was going to do it while on deployment, but he just didnt due to stress factors - weirdly enough he did it in the middle of schooling and PCSing (we did a dity move). But hey, whatever works I guess.

OMG Irish, you would LOVE FI's house. His mom has life like dolls EVERYWHERE! Ha ha, I am going to take a picture of the one that creeps me out and post it for you on Friday, so keep an eye out for it! :)

So from an artistic point of view I think the life like babydolls are awesome. I saw them on Ebay once and literally thought they were selling a baby! But I did see a show on TV that was filmed in Britian and this 50 year old lady would take the baby doll around with her! In a stroller, in the store - bought it new clothes and so forth - that was a bit extreme. It's crazy neat what they can do to dolls now a days!
I was a cabbage patch kid growing up as far as baby dolls went :)

    1. Time you went to bed last night?
11pm. Well... "went to bed" at 9pm... fell asleeeeep at 11... ;)
    2. Tea or Coffee?
ack! LOVE both! That's such a hard thing to ask me because I'm a tea addict, but have been drinking more coffee lately to try to wake myself up -_- My favorite tea is Vanilla Rooibus and Early grey (with some milk in it.. mmmmm) The only coffee I'll touch is Starbucks
    3. Things you can't live without? (THINGS, not people.. people aren't things!)
    Cell phone. Internet, mascara, water.
    4. Ten Million Dollars... what would you do with it?
Invest it. Well ok.. pay off the house, take a vaca, donate, and invest the rest.  :P
    5. Toys.. what was your favorite growing up?
Pokemon and Sailor moon stuff... and Legos!!!!
    6. Traditions that you love? (Family, Weddings, any traditions..)
Christmas anything.. The way we do stocking probably, carving pumpkins for halloween, pumpkin pie.... uuuhh... We don't have a lot of traditions honestly, so I guess that's it.
    7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions)
I'de have to think on this.. I appreciate others' traditions whether I do them myself or not... Traditions are usually about culture or sentimental things, and I try to handle ambiguity well.
    8. Teacher Crushes?
My 9th-10th grade math teacher Mr. Sumerton. He was super young and dreamy and nerdy :o)
    9. The ultimate comfort food?
    Chips and Sour Cream
    Pizza
Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches :)
    10. Tell us about your last kiss..
mmm :) Kissing H when he first got home last night was aaawwwessooome. BUt our last kiss was this morning as he walked me to my car, wished me a good day of classes, kissed me, and shut my car door. *sigh*

    1. Time you went to bed last night?
00:30- ick! and my morning at work started at 0800... but FI had a late flight last night and staying up a bit with him was our only chance to talk yesterday, so...

    2. Tea or Coffee?
Both, but not at the same time! I love love looove coffee and tea. Starbucks is a weakness (especially pumpkin spice latte season, ouch on my wallet); I really got into tea drinking after going to Ireland and having daily tea time; I love milk and sugar in my tea :)

    3. Things you can't live without? (THINGS, not people.. people aren't things!)
My Bible, Skype+ my computer (skype dates <3),my phone (but I need a new one), clean underwear.

    4. Ten Million Dollars... what would you do with it?
Tithe 10 percent; divvy up the rest between investments so that I would make interest that I could donate to charities I'm passionate about (Doctors without borders, compassion)

    5. Toys.. what was your favorite growing up?
We played outside a lot or I rode horses, so a horse was my favorite? haha

    6. Traditions that you love? (Family, Weddings, any traditions..)
I already love my FI's family reunion tradition (we don't have a big family so we've never done this); my family isn't huge into traditions other than getting together during holidays and sunday afternoon meals (which I love)

    7. Traditions that you hate? (Again.. any traditions)
Any tradition that dictates a person to act a way that isn't natural to them; I don't think families should do things just to "appear" perfect.

    8. Teacher Crushes?
Ew, I never had any good looking teachers growing up, so no. haha.

    9. The ultimate comfort food?
Resse's peanut butter cups, mint choc chip ice cream; hotdogs (I have no idea why!)

    10. Tell us about your last kiss..
2 weekends ago, the weekend he proposed as he was getting in his car to drive back to FL. ... it was long; neither of us wanted our time together to end; perfect and sweet :)

I saw that as well and it totally freaked me out.  I am however very strange any way as I am afriad of dolls (because of Chuckie), clowns (Penny Wise), birds (The birds) and little people (no good reason).  I think my mom should have really chosen a better babysitter when I was younger.  HAAA
