Places to stay Wilmington, NC

When FI gets back from deployment, I'm going to go to NC and spend a few days with him so we're looking at going to Wilmington. Anyone from the area/stayed there before and have suggestions on where to stay? I'd love to just stay at a Marriott or the Hilton down there but it's a tad pricey - any suggestions would be great!

Eat at Flaming Amys!!! Best dang burittos ever. Sorry, that's all I've got for advice! Hopefully some of the other girls can help you out!!

Check on the NC board..and also the NC-Outer Banks board..I'm from the Piedmont/Triad area of NC..so on the western side and don't know much about Wilmington..but the NC girls are usually really friendly and will help you

I LOVE Wilmington!! 

DH and I have stayed at Stemmerman's Inn <------- and loved it. Super romantic! It's a bit more $$ than the Hilton on N Water Street. 

Do you want to stay in Downtown Wilmington, or you willing to be a slight drive away? You might be able to find some relatively inexpensive beach rentals in the Wrightsville Beach area.

I'm looking in Wrightville Beach now! I just want to be abe to go to Wilmington, everyone I know that has been there loves it.

I think I have stayed at the Hilton before. It was nice. If I remember right they have free breakfast, but you might want to check me on that.

He's a Marine right?  Camp Lejune/New River is about an hours drive to Wilmington, so to save money you could always stay on base, and then drive down and spend the day in Wilmy.  The only hotels I've ever stayed at are The Wilmingtonian, Atlantis Lodge, and The Sheraton Atlantic Beach. Or look into renting a house/condo for a week.  It would be maybe a bit pricey since it's beach season and they usually do weekly rentals, but I know that there are small "beach shacks" that rent for cheap. 

Just googling Wilmy hotels military discount I found hotels from $50-$200 so I'm sure you can find somewhere in your budget.  I personally LOVE Atlantic Beach.. and Sunset Beach!! I'm a total Beach Bum!
