Military Brides

Our venue screwed me :(

So, when we first started working with this venue, the coordinator let us know that she would give us all day to set up for the event. It was something they have mentioned every time we went in for a meeting. So, today in casual, minor detail chit chat over email, she slips in that they have an event in the barn (where we are getting married) that morning, until 2PM!!! So, all that stuff that we had planned to do that morning (set up flowers on site to have clean looking water, poms, etc.) will not be able to get done, especially since pictures are at freaking 2pm! I am going to lose my mind over this. I am so upset guys :( FI is livid, he feels like they have our money now so they don't give a shiit about customer service now. I wrote her an email trying not to come off irrational or "bridezilla"ish, but also expressing our extreme concern for this situation. I am still waiting for a reply. I hope she fixes this somehow, cause this is really realllly messed up. /end rant.

Ummmm RUDE! I'm glad you wrote an email to the event. They need to, if nothing else, help you set up now that they have put you on a time crunch.. ugh.. I'm so glad wedding planning is over. I hate how so many vendors reeeally exploit the wedding business with little concern for their clients.
Is it in writing that you were suppose to have the whole day to set up?

Oh no, I am so so sorry for this! I do hate to say this, but did you get that agreement in writing? I don't really see how they can fix it unless it was in a law binding agreement that you will have the place for the whole day. Have you thought of a back up plan yet?

ugh, that's terrible. I feel so bad for you!!! This is yet another reason why I'm glad we decided to get married at our friend's property- sure, it's going to be a pain in some ways, but at least I don't have to worry about booking issues.

so glad you wrote them an email. I agree that they should at least provide people to help you set up, but if you have in writing that you booked for the day, then they should have to move the other event.

Blah!  That sucks big time.  Did y'all have a set up time included in the contract?

Nope, no writing. Just her word against mine unfortunately. She just replied with an excuse, saying that we could have had the whole day IF they didn't have an event, but since they do, too bad. She also said (which is my fault for trusting her word and not reading this) that the contract states that we are given 2 hours for setting up. My bad totally, but don't tell me one thing when it's another, you know? Ugh, I just have to deal with it. I am just so mad that we could have shown up that morning ready to get it all together and be told to go away and come back. Like now I have questions on when I can get ready there, when I can set up the ceremony site... I want to kick herrrrrr! ARGGGG. She even told me a month ago that she was going to take everything down the night before. There is no reason I shouldn't have thought we would have the time.

Oh Cab that suuuuucks! I'm sorry!! Can you recruit friends/close family members to help your mom or whoever, while you're taking pictures? Or is there any way to crunch your timeline a little bit, to give you more leeway in the set up? I hope it works out!! It's still going to be gorgeous, don't stress over things you can't change!!

I know it will all work out and all, I am just mad that now that they have my money, they don't give a shiit. Empty promises, and it makes me nervous for what may come next, ya know?

Ugh!  So sorry CAB.  Unfortunately, it's all about business and if the venue can book the max number of events, they will.  This is also another reason why a coordinator or DOC is worth the money if at all possible.

I would definitely go into Nazi planning mode right now.  In addition to recruiting ppl to help you set up, do all that you can do ahead of time (ie assemble the poms).  You can probably even arrange the flowers before-hand, then just change out the water for fresh water once you're at the venue.  Draw diagrams (maybe even include pics of the venue if you can), and write out very specific set-up instructions for those who will be setting up.  And if at all possible, get everyone together prior to the day of and brief the hell out of them! ;)

It's all going to work out, you'll see.  :)

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that this happened. My venue told me this same thing. I'm crossing my fingers no one get's married the Friday before me. I would love to be able to set up early. But as long as you have a lot of helpful hands, I'm sure you'll pull it off. ;)

:) Thanks guys. I always feel better after posting my issues on here. I am so glad that I spoke up, because even with her excuses, she made arrangements to have us come in from 7:30am to 10am, and she is going to have her staff help. DAMN RIGHT YOU WILL, FARM LADY!!! My only concern is her prior party messing my shiz up, but really that's not all that important, cause MY party is capable of messing things up, too. LOL

CAB, I love you.  You're one smartass chica, and I know it'll all be fine.  Bummer it's not in writing anywhere, but oh well.  Like others said, all you can do is move forward.  Glad she's getting her peeps to help you!  It'll turn out beautiful and will be a distant memory of a thorn in your side when it's all over.
