Military Brides

Hi! I'm a newbie! :)

Hi! My name is Emily and I just joined the site! I need to find something to keep me busy! :) My boyfriend is in the Marine Corps and we are getting married in August (hopefully). I have known him since I was 14, and at 23, I am super excited to be getting married. I am glad that I have found a board like this to help answer some questions I may have along the way!!! Glad to be here! :)

Same here. I'm new and planning to marry in August (crossing fingers) although that may change. I'm lost as to where to start!

Yeah, guess you can never be too sure with the military... He told me a few days ago that he thought his leave would be in Aug., and last night he said he thinks it will really be the around the end of July. Wish I had a date but I totally understand! He deploys again this Fall. Great to have at least two people out there on the same (around August) wedding schedule! :)

Airman's Gal: I would say to start with a dress! That's what I did! :D It's so fun to look for a dress!!!

WishICouldBe....: Very excited to meet you!

Hi and welcome!  I am a Navy wife, and have experience with changing wedding dates and fast planning unfortunately.  Make sure you get military clauses in any contracts allowing you to at least switch dates at the venue without losing your deposit.  Good luck with your planning!

Welcome! I'm an Air Force wife :) Ditto PPs, military clauses are really important if you're a little unsure about dates.

Good idea Emily! We're planning a very small ceremony on base so luckily I don't have to deal with vendors. I think I'm going to do a casual dress, nothing too fancy and keep it simple so that will help the planning. I'm just a little overwhelmed right now. I'm moving  in the next month or so and then we start marriage counseling right after and I'm starting a new school the end of June and have to plan this wedding! I'm a bit flustered lol.

I know what you mean! I am trying to keep everything as low key as possible! I don't want to be more stressed than I need to be!  I looked for a destination dress because I wanted something simple, comfortable, and I didn't want a typical poofy dress. lol. Plus....they are usually less expensive (yay!). I can understand the flustered part though...that's a lot of things happening so soon for you. I am stressed because I wanted to have an outdoor wedding down the road from my house in an old barn but it will be SO hot outside at the end of July!!! So now I am torn between being in a place with a/c or being in a place that will make for great photos! Decisions, decisions....lol.

I'm a newbie too! I am soooo lost! lol Glad to see your super excited! I am 23 too and I have known my fiancee since I was 16! The frustrating thing is not the planning. It's the planning around the original plan i.e "we're getting marriend on June 30th, okay no, now he is deploying (AGAIN... might I add)" lol So it only adds onto the planning exhaustion! Any pro's who want to help us??? :)

I agree. I keep saying, "as long as he can GET home, whenever it is, I won't care." But it makes things a little stressful!!! :)
