So i'm a nerd. the tradition :Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue . . . came from an old English poem/rhyme
Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe.
(the blue is from: Mary in blue, lover be true.)
What was/is your something old, new, borrowed and blue (if you have picked any yet).
Also I know not everyone is army, but there was an old cavalry tradition to wear a yellow ribbon(it is really older then that so it may carry into other branches or groups I just didn't do research - sadly I knew this without aid). A variation on a 400? years old song called "round her neck she wore a yellow ribbon" was a popular marching song and the version popular today (loose term) was written in the early 1900s.
because I cant expect you guys to be as nerdy as me:
Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon
She wore it in the springtime
In the merry month of May
And if you ask her why the heck she wore it
She wore it for her soldier who was far far awayHas anyone incorporate the yellow ribbon into their wedding day attire? I have known quite a few army and navy brides who have and was wondering how common it was.
feel free to laugh at me now
