Package sent but second guessing on what all was sent

I finally sent my care package to DD husband's friend and spent ALOT of money(hundreds). But I feel like I sent him stuff that was non nutritional for the most partUndecided It's hot and he is in full gear. I sent lots of wyler packets to put in water I have NO clue why I didn't think of gator aid, protein powder beef jerky and some vitamins.

I sent 20 cliff bars every kind of toiletries including oral gel, eye lubricant, DEET stuff for bugs, lip balm(lots of it) peanuts(why didn't I think of nuts with protein!?) Games, dice, cookies, carmel popcorn,  baby wipes, aleive, the garter from the wedding and other stuff I don't remember. I stuffed 2 large USP flat rate boxes full of stuff.

I am just feeling like I could have spent that money on better things and feel horrible and it has bothered me since I sent it Monday. I always seem to think of the better things after the fact.

Should I buy this stuff, or would he be happy with what I did send? I really don;t want to spend any more for a few more months. I have enough stuff to send 4 more boxes and I can't exchange the items. What would you do? TYIA

    What?!?!
Don't be silly! That is a kickbutt care package! If you decide to send a second one, sure make it more nutritional, but cliff bars and toiletries will be LOVED!
I think you did amazingly well :)

@ First, that's sorta like what DD hubby said (jelous was his word) but I think it's the "mom" in me that is worried/guilty. I so want to get him as much comfort ( oh gel shoe inserts was another thing sent)and goods as "home" has but missed the mark on his enviorment he is in. I am blaming the "mom" in me on this one I guess.

Again, I commend you ladies you are awsome! I only met this guy once but he  left a huge impression on me and worry about him daily.

Don't worry about nutritional - what you gave him is comfort!  The military will take care of his needs, your package will give him some joy.  You did good!!!  And so very generous of you!!!

See?! Seriously.. who does that.. you're an incredible person to send this guy such a crazy awesome package after meeting him ONCE. That's the mom in you, nutrition come second to comfort while they are over there.

Ditto the girls. You did such a sweet thing! All H ever asks me for are mostly junk food, so what you sent are great!

Ditto the others that you made some amazing packages.  H is usually a pretty healthy eater at home, but he loves when I send him junk food in his care packages.  This guy will love it, and will be completely touched by you sending it.  Stop second guessing yourself!

Ok, thanks ladies for your input and words, second guessing is one of my biggest downfalls in EVERYTHING I do.

I was a bit worried because he did say "I only have need for protein powder as it stands. They don't feed us too much out here and I still get to do allot of walking around and what not. I will find a use for anything you send I'm sure, and i love to share with these dudes as well. It's starting to get mighty hot here as well and I get to walk around the mountains with full gear on in it. " This is where the second guessing started to fester in me.

This isn't his first "rodeo" I think it's his 7th, but it is my first since at the time the ex was in, there were little to no things on this scale happening.

He is 6'6" and when he said what he said about food, and I having a son who is 6'3" I know how much they eat when they burn so many calories working out.

I dubbed him carrot, not because of his red hair (it is red, almost fire red), but when we went out for lunch (the first time I ever met DD hubby and he brought this guy along,)  I was looking for gumbo(hadn't had that in years) and sure enough he found it, small print in the bottom corner of the menu, so I guessed with eye sight like that he had to of  had to eat allot of carrots. I wanted to send him a fresh carrot but we all know that is a no no.

Thanks again for getting me out of this state of mind. Just another reason why you all are amazing!

H always gets mad at me because I send him baked goods and stuff and he's a total health nut. I'm all like "I CAN'T HELP IT I LIKE TO BAKE BUT I DON'T LIKE TO EAT IT AND I MADE YOU GRANOLA BARS DAMMIT!!" ...in hind sight.. I think I was PMSy...

Seriously.. I'm sure it means alot to him just to get a care package at all!! Let alone a kick ass one like that!!

I think that sounds like a great package.  He'll be stoked.  Don't worry about it.  If you send more boxes, throw in a few things that make you feel better for sending.  MH usually just wants snacks that he can't get over there.  He also like me to send those Lunch to Go tuna packs and fruit cups. Don't forget air fresheners.

Oh I did send airfresheners as well! The ones you use in cars, boys/men are stinky after all Laughing I sent a dinty more turkey and dressing thing and stew. I was looking for the tuna packets but Wal-Greens didn't have them nor the store I work for.

Too funnySammy, you can send them to me as well! (laughing) if he doesn;t want them! Innocent This guy too is a health nut. They have to be, to be able to do what they do.

The ironic thing is I work for a organic/natural co-op store with a free nutritionist at any time on site,  you would THINK I would have known! Cliff bars were $1.00, I am going to see if they are still at that price since those are a big hit over there. I also got "chunks of energy" as well with gummy like bears that were sugar coated.
So yeah I am getting stoked now that it's all good.

Sami - I always just tell FI to give it away if he doesn't want to eat it.  He's also a ridiculous health nut.

<div>When I send cookies, which is like once a week while he is gone, H shares them with everyone in his shop.  So I started making double batches everytime because I know he shares them with everyone.  When he left for this current underway I made a huge batch, and they were gone the next morning.  </div><div>
</div><div>So even if he doesn't eat everything in the package, he will still truly appreciate you sending it, and will share it with others who might not receive many packages themselves.</div>

Girl please!!! When I was deployed I appreciated EVERYTHING that came in that box.  Im sure he will be happy with it!    If anything if you're not satisfied with what you sent just put it in there next time.  You did a great thing.  Laughing
