Returner to the Military Brides Board!

Hey my name is Chelsea. I am engaged to My Fiance who is A Seabee. He is stationed in Port Hueneme, California! We are getting married in August 2012. He is currently deployed. And will be till the wedding, So i'm planning this whole thing pretty much by myself! Which isn't that bad, but I get stressed over pleasing everyone else. And the theme is a little hard. We chose a winter wonderland type theme and I feel like I'm getting a little too tacky and i'm trying not to! But I would love to meet new friends who's SO's are also In the Military!

I used to be on TheKnot before however I was young and immature and So I just distanced my self from it for a while. I hope I get a little bit easier feed back this time :)

Hi and welcome to the board.
I used to live in Port Huaneme... I miss Zuma! :P
And my H is also Navy (although not a boat guy)

Step away from the "theme" if you're worried about tackyness.. I'm not a huge fan of themes at weddings for the most part.. .It's not a birthday party..

    Tell us more about you..
Are you from the area or did you move there with him?
How's the deployment going? Is this your first with him or..?
Sorry that the wedding planning is overwhelming, but in the end the result is marriage and that's a pretty awesome thing.

Please take out when he will be returning. I think its breaking opsec.

Congrats on the wedding. What are your colors?
Military Brides December 2011 Siggy. Holiday picture with your SO. We suck and don't have one :/ Those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

Welcome! Yeah, be careful what info you disclose on here about your FI because it could violate OPSEC (if you don't know what that is, google it, or you can look under Hike's sticky thread- I'm pretty sure it's in there). I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to figure out based on you stating where he is stationed, that he is deployed and his return month for someone to connect the dots. We want to make sure your FI stays safe!

Congrats on the wedding :) I agree with FTL- step away from the theme a bit if you're too tempted to get tacky with it. What are your colors? What sort of ideas do you have?

I think it's neat that you realized that you were young and immature and you stepped away from TK for a while. There are others who aren't as wise...

Hi and welcome.  I second what Fire and FTL say just step back from the theme. Maybe you can look at the colors of the theme and just add simple touches.  For example, we got married at the beach.  We did small center pieces with just sand, shells and candles.  Sort of hint at a beach theme but not in your face.  You know what I mean?

    Hi and welcome!

I would say, be sure you don't plan the wedding too close to when he's due to return because those dates can change up until the last minute, so it would be a shame to have it all planned, invitations sent, and then find out the day before he won't be coming home as planned, ya know?  Give it at least a few months between the dates for the least chance of something going wrong!

Welcome! These ladies are all wonderful and offer great advice. They can come across as a bit intense at first, but really it is tough love.  They are all great. and I respect 99.9% of them.  Stick around, we love people that stick around.

Hi and welcome.  Please remember that OPSEC is your friend.  Putting too much info out on the web can put your guy in danger or delay his homecoming.  OPSEC: Learn it, live it, love it!
