Military Brides

I need help!

My fiance just asked me on Sunday March 13th and we plan to get married in late December. I am young, and I am sooooo overwhelmed! My fiance leaves 18th of August (as of now) and I need help with colors. Where do I start with planning?

I think we are planning on him wearing his Class A's (if they don't discontinue them), so what color would go good with them in a December wedding..?

First of all, you need to remove the date that he is leaving from your post, and I would do some research on OPSEC and PERSEC before you start posting.

Wedding colors don't need to be based off of uniform colors.  Pick you the colors you both want for your wedding.  Winter weddings are traditionally darker colors, but people do all different things with colors and seasons, so it's what you want.

If your FI is leaving during the planning process, i would ask him what and how much he wants to be involved with.  My H was really interested in the venue, food, alcohol, DJ, and attire.  Things like flowers, centerpieces, chair covers, and other little details he didn't care to be involved.  So finding out now what he wants can save lots of time and little arguments later.  Also, ask him how much of the military he wants to incorporate into the wedding.  My H didn't want to wear his uniform, and didn't want much ties to the Navy at all.  The only way an outsider could have known it was a military wedding was because our military guests wore their uniforms, and our toss garter was a camo Navy one.  If he doesn't want many military things though, don't push it.  Some brides want to totally play up the military, contrary to what their FI wants

    Congratulations!

Like the above post mentioned, don't worry about matching your colors to your FH's uniform.  My husband is in the Air Force & wore his Mess Dress (navy blue) & our colors were black, white & aqua.  Our groomsmen wore black tuxes & our bridesmaids wore black dresses with an aqua sash.  It actually worked out really well because my husband really stood out among the groomsmen in our pictures.

I would say the most important things to start working on are your big vendors.  Start researching reception halls & photographers.  I'd say those are the vendors that get booked first normally.

    Good luck!!
