I did this last year... It turned out really great! Although now I have a huge banner in our garage that's taking up space.. haha
My only tip is to make sure to order with plenty of time because they can take quite a while to get it to you, but great customer service and quality.

I'm worried I am going to feel like an idiot being a single person holding a sign. Perhaps if I can get his family to be here they can hold it. LOL

I got the free banner (which was about 3ftX6ft or something along those lines) so I had it hanging from our HOUSE, I wasn't holding it.
Is he coming off of a boat? If that's the case, then I'm sure there will be plenty of people holding signs to help their SOs find them, haha...
Our guys fly their own planes home and we meet them at their hanger (usually) so there aren't that many people per Homecoming... For that reason no one held signs at ours last year (at least not spouses... I think I saw a couple kids with "welcome home, Daddy" signs though).

H is in the AF and he also flys his aircraft over there and brings it back, so he too will be arriving back on the flight line (outside the hanger) on base. There were prob be <15 ppl there.

Sounds like our homecoming... I would say bring it if you want to. If you feel silly when you get there, you can just slip it back in your car, right?
My only reasoning for suggesting that you DON'T bring it, is that it would make it difficult to run and grab him to embrace. You will probably end up just dropping the sign on the ground when you see him haha

I made H a banner last time and just had it hanging on our garage.  I made 2 huge banners with 2 of my friends with all of our husbands' names on it.  We hung one on the fence at the entrance to our townhouse complex so they saw it coming home.  Then we were supposed to bring the other one to the pier with us but forgot it when we were rushing out the door that morning.

I have looked at that site sooo many times to make H a sign, but have never made one yet because I feel silly only putting me on it.  I know that's lame, but I know for sure I'll order one once we have kids.
