Military Brides

Feeling ballsy, coming out of lurkdom.

Hi ladies, I'm sitting here doing laundry and watching the USA game with a glass of wine and have decided to come out of lurking. I'm active on other boards but never posted here. FI is USCG, I'm a science geek. We're getting married in September and I can't wait!! That's all I've got. Smile Alex

Welcome to the Boards and congrats on your rapidly approaching wedding!!! My FIL was in the CG for 30 years!! My H is a Marine, and I'm prior service (AD Navy). We've been married for almost 7 months now. He's stationed in Japan (unaccompanied orders), I got out of the Navy in Jan, and lived with my IL's briefly and now am home with my parents in NC. Hubs and I will PCS to MCAS New River in early 2012.

    Welcome again!!

Hi! I'm more of a lurker than a poster on here too. My FI is in the Marine Corps, and I'm in med school. What kind of science geek are you?

Congrats on your wedding! It's coming up soon!

    Welcome Irish!

Do you find your work interesting? Personally I find DNA fascinating but I understand lab work can be a downer.

Shan, I love it in theory, but some days can be very frustrating when things don't work. There aren't a lot of big 'aha moments' so it can get very repetitive. The big picture is important, even if what I do daily isn't, kwim?

FTL, you're stuck with me!! :)

Welcome :-D I mostly lurk here too, but I post from time to time. I'm going to school for genetic counseling, so I'm a genetics/science geek too! The clinical side of things though, not so much with the lab work.

Hi!  Welcome!  You're Irish, so I'm already a fan by default.  Are you actually from Ireland, or just your family?  My Dad's from Dublin, and I've got Irish citizenship through him.  I keep telling FI that if/when he gets out of the Marines, I'm making him get citizenship through me so we can move to Europe to work!

And TK had a weird glitch and told me this thread had 59 posts, so I got nervous... I read it earlier and just didn't respond yet, but it seemed normal so I was wondering what happened to make it 59 posts!  Glad to see it wasn't that catastrophic at all!

Calindi, just Irish heritage, but I'm ridiculously proud of it. :) My parent's have dual citizenship and I've been a bunch. I have to tell you, since I've lurked so much--you're getting married at Branford House right? {stalker much?} I went to UConn and took a summer course there, and my dad got remarried there last year--such a gorgeous space!! We're getting married in Hartford; my dad and stepmother split time between Hartford and Groton.

Yes, I am!!! I'm so excited about it - my FI still hasn't seen the venue, though we're going while we're up visiting my family the first weekend in August.  I actually didn't see it until about two months after I booked it, but I just knew it was the right place for us.  I certainly talked to plenty of brides who had been married there, my parents went and visited and asked about 400 questions that I sent them with (probably not even exaggerating - the list was 4 pages long of questions!), and saw dozens of photo albums of weddings there.  So it wasn't like I booked it blind!

Are you on the CT board?  I feel like I haven't seen you there... but then again, I usually only go when I have a question to ask.  I'm not very helpful to the others as I don't know very much, but they've all been outrageously helpful for me!  Are you having DJ Melee?  I never would have heard of him if it wasn't for that board, and I'm so darned excited to have him for our music vendor!  He's sooo cheap, too!

Welcome welcome! I have utmost repect for science geeks, as it very often concerns things I will never understand. Hope you stick around on the board, I'm new, but I think it's a pretty awsome group!

I only pop in if I have a question, and most of them are answered without me posting, so I'm not super active over there. I'm using a DJ that a friend recommended, we got an awesome referral discount! It's my biggest concern right now though, I want an awesome rocking party all night, and the DJ drives that!!
