Beach wedding......without the beach?

I need some input ladies. Our wedding is rapidly approaching. We've still got plenty of time, but so far it's flying by. Our original plan was to have the wedding ceremony out in San Diego at our favorite beach, but due to some other circumstances, we decided to have the ceremony here in our home state at a park overlooking the river. It was almost the next best thing. The thing is, FI and I absolutely LOVE the beach. It's one of our favorite places and holds special significance to us since that is where he proposed. Here's my question: How can I incorporate a beachy theme into our wedding when we're not actually having it on the beach? WIll that look tacky and out of place if I try to bring the beach into it? If it's not tacky, what are some ways I can do it without going too overboard since it's not actually on the beach? Maybe I'm thinking about this too much......

I don't think it's tacky.  Some people might think it's odd if you make it too ocean themed (lighthouses, seashells, starfish, etc.), but I think you could easily go with a nautical beach theme.  Use shades of blue and sand/beige.  Use sand and stones rather than sand and shells.  Use boats as imagery as those do exist on lakes.
