Military Brides

I need to visit you ladies more often....

Quick question… I have no idea why I didn’t think of this sooner.

Using the base chapel.  Does it cost money?!...  do you need to go through any sort of classes like some churches require?  And does a lack of religious beliefs on both our parts matter?

I believe if you are married by a military chaplain, there is no fee. I don't think they can accept donations either, although you can donate to a fund they support or during a service/mass. I also think that they do varied types of ceremonies, meaning it doesn't have to be religious.

No, there isn't a TK group on FB.

I saw a Coast Guard chaplain do a totally secular service on Sunday in a Catholic chapel.  So there's that... no clue what they charge, though!  I do think it would be nice to offer to donate to a military-related charity, like the Wounded Warrior Project, or something similar as a thank you if they won't accept payment.

We're thinking about trying to find a Catholic chaplain to do our pre-Cana because it turns out that just as things get settled, they change again. Basically now FI is going to San Antonio for 2 months, then Ft. Lee for 2 months, and we don't know whether he'll be going back to SA for a while or whether he'll then go to his new base where, please God, we can actually stay for more than a few months. Sorry to threadjack, I'm very "Jesus take the wheel" tonight.

DMB - we can be nomadic friends!  We'll be moving every 2-6 months for the first two years of marriage.  Joy!  Actually, I'm rather looking forward to it, but I'm sure I'll regret that when I have to pack/unpack several times in a row.

Moving every 2-6 months?!?!  I might like that for the first year, after that, I'd be like.... hokay, enough!

It'd be nice excuse to not be work for 2 years though, lol.
