Care package... for a military wife?

I've been vaguely thinking about this for a bit, but I can't decide if it's a silly idea or not. Maybe you all can help!

Fi and I are good friends with a couple who PCSed from North Carolina (where Fi is) to Texas last week. To top it off, he will also be deploying with his new unit pretty much as soon as possible - I think in a couple of weeks. Luckily she already got a job near their new place, which is awesome, but she still doesn't really know people in the area yet and is far from her family.

My question is, would it be weird to send HER a care package?! Not that I'm not planning to send anything to him while he's deployed, but it seems like it would be nice to acknowledge her too... what do you think? What would you want in a care package while your SO is away?

I feel like that is a great idea!  Especially since they just moved.  I'm sure she will really  appreciate it!

I think that is such a sweet, thoughtful idea. It's so hard being at a new place as is; but to add in that the man deploys soon and she'll be alone in a new place? That's rough. It will make her MONTH to get a sweet care package from you. :)
I'm sure she'll be taking care of his needs via care package, so it'll be such a great consideration for you to take care of hers.

Consider things like nail polish, sudoku, bath salts, etc. Things that will help keep her busy or relax. Maybe to top it off you could send a book of "things to do in.." wherever she is or near.

I think it's a great idea.  You could look into what kind of restaurants and stores are in her area, and get a couple giftcards.  LIke Starbucks, Blockbuster, etc.  A nice body wash, bubble bath, or something like that is great.  Does she have a Kindle or a Nook?  You could do a gift card toward books.  Basically anything you know she would like, and is easy to send.

Another idea, depending on what you want to spend, is a spa gift card for one in her area.  We moved into our new area on my birthday, and my friend sent me an online gift card for a massage at a spa in our area.  I booked it for the weekend after H deployed, and it was awesome.

I agree! It is a fantastic idea! We military spouses do our very best to support our husbands/wives who are serving, but I think it's important to support each other as well! You are so very thoughtful and generous and I think your friend would really appreciate a care package :)
