Ceremony and Reception Sites

Hi everyone!

My wedding is still a long ways off, but since my fiance lives in St. Louis and I'm in grad school in Albuquerque, I don't mind having extra time :)

We already looked at many sites, and our top two are Rancho de Corrales and the Albuquerque Balloon Museum. I was wondering if anyone has used them and/or has been to a wedding at either site. I'm completely torn between the two, so any information would be welcome :)

My venue is the balloon museum! It is a bit pricey and the only discount you get is if you get married mon-fri.  My FI and I love the venue because it is so modern looking.  We love the architecture, the huge windows, and the beautiful view of the sandias.  For catering we went with Jim Schumacher and he is amazing to work with!  He will make you whatever you want and suggests different menus for your price range.

I found this flickr account with balloon museum pictures.

I had my wedding at the Balloon Museum as well.  The positive is that I got exactly what I wanted.  The negatives were that they weren't very organized.  They kept telling me I owed money when I didn't, they kept forgetting things they promised me, etc.

I used Slate Street Cafe for catering (they don't really adveritise that they'll let you use any caterer you want) and I had a tent wedding.  Overall, I loved the location and the views.

I went to a wedding at the balloon museum and picked up a friend from rancho de corrales.  I would personally pick rancho de corrales but it depends on the look you want for your wedding because those two are very different!

My SIL got married at Rancho de Corrales. It was a beautiful site with a good atmosphere. However, the food was meh and not at all worth what they paid.
