Hot Air Balloon Ride: Should I or Shouldn't I?

Boston couple SSSOOO looking forward to visiting New Mexico. I am sure that we will be meeting so many warm, wonderful people : knot responses and our phone contacts indicate that.

So I need some honest responses. My husband wants to experience a balloon ride. I am TERRIFIED of heights.

Many websites say...it will be no problem...true or not true??

We actually thinking of doing one in Taos.

My husband says that he will respect my decision one way or another. Should I or shouldn't I?

Thank.

If you visit New Mexico, you pretty much have to ride in a hot air balloon.  We won't let you leave the state if you don't! Only kidding.  I am scared of heights as well, but you feel more secure in a balloon than you would think.

Don't come here expecting everyone is "warm and wonderful" because not too many people are. Sorry to burst that bubble.  No one is outright mean here, unless you have to drive here.  If you have an accent, then you will get a LOT of "WHERE are you from?!".

Despite that, NM is pretty awesome and a balloon ride is a must!!

My mother is terrified of heights as well, and she used to crew for balloons and go up all the time.  It's different than being in a high building or high bridge; the gondola makes it so you can't look down, only out.

I think he'd enjoy it, but if he's dead set against it, I wouldn't push it.

I say do it do it do it!  I went on one for my birthday a few years ago and I was scared out of my mind to the point where they were screaming get in or be left so I ran and go into the balloon and so glad.  It's amazing to be up in the air, and seeing everything look so peaceful down below.  I mean it is amazing.  A must do in my opinion.  Especially if you do Taos OMG that would be amazing!

    I say DO IT!

I'm not afraid of heights but the idea of being in a little basket floating around by a balloon does terrify me. I'm sure if you express your fears/concerns with the balloon company they will ease your mind and/or compromise with what will make you comfortable! But think about it, how many times will you get the chance to ride in a hot air balloon!? Give it a shot :)

Thank you for all of your encouragement about balloon ride. Still debating what to do.

    We have booked our hotels.

The first couple of night will be in the Inn of the Anasazi.

The next couple will be in Taos...El Monte Sagrado. After booking this hotel (picked no refund rate) we saw that there was a bedbug complaint on the registry.

Contacted hotel...they claim no bugs...of course....I am stressed.
