Help! I need a band!

Hi!  We are getting married at Hildene in July and we are having trouble finding a band.  We are from NY, so we don't know any of the bands in the area.  All we can go by are the samples on the websites.  Can anyone recommend a band that will play a good mix of the usual wedding songs, classic rock, and some contemporary songs too?

Thanks!

I'm from New York and getting marired in Vermont too.  We found our band through best bands: http://www.bestbands.com/wedding/vermont/vermont.php

You give them your date/price range/music preference and they send you samples (around 8 songs) of Vermont and Boston bands.  We ended up going to Boston one weekend to hear two of them live and then decided.  They have been really good to deal with.

    hope this helps!

We've looked at some Best Bands groups too.  Who did you decide on?  We haven't been able to make it up to Boston yet, so we don't know how anyone sounds live.  We've been looking closely at Sugarbabies.

We went with the Cords.  We loved them when we saw them live!

The Sugarbabies weren't on our list so I don't know them.  Our favorite changed after we saw them live so it's worth going if you can but I know it's hard to be a new yorker planning a wedding in vermont!

We also went through best bands and booked Al Alessi - they were awesome! They played mostly classics. Everyone was on the dance floor all night and we got so many comments on how great they were.

I LOVE the samples of The Cords on their site, but I got in touch with them and haven't heard back yet.  We're getting married in Stowe - does anyone know if they think they'd travel that far?

We tried to get The Cords for our wedding as well but they were all booked. We are now seriously considering the Sugarbabies. We've spoken to a number of references who have raved about them, but we haven't seen them live.
