Does the color scheme for my shower have to match my wedding colors?

Thanks! My wedding is black and ivory. I didn't want my bridesmaids to be limited on color choices for the shower, but I wanted to double check on what is the norm before I tell them to go ahead and do whatever they want!

I was considering black and ivory for my wedding too. What flowers are you using? I'm having trouble finding any that I like and that will look good with black and ivory. Thanks!

I've decided to go with blush and creme roses, calla lilies, and maybe gardenias if I can work them in there somehow. We are both really classic in our taste, and using a bright color for flowers and accents didn't really sit with us, so we decided to stay really light and neutral.

I'm doing black and ivory also, but I'm using red roses for a pop of color.

Thanks for the replies ladies.  I too had thought of calla lillies.  I love them and I like the idea of keeping all the colors soft and neutral, but I also like the idea of a pop of color.  Oh, so many decisions!

I stressed a lot about colors, because I feel like that is one of the things people criticize the most at a wedding. But, ultimately, it is your wedding! Who cares? We both like really simple, and classic things, so we went with black and ivory and then chose to use our flowers for just the slightest bit of color.

I like the idea of a hint of color. We have talked about black, ivory, and gold. Just to add in that subtle color. I like a soft yellow, but I don't want it to look like a bumble bee in our reception. :-)
