Who's still with me??

I'm still NEY! BF has 16 months left in his radiology program...so i'm sure it won't be before then. I'm not in a rush, though I do have my "I want to be married" moments like everyone else.

On a side note, BF's brother got engaged on x-mas eve, so that's exciting for us!

I was just wondering this the other day after our slew of beautiful holiday proposals.

I’ll be NEY for at least another six months-ish (BF isn’t allowed to propose until 6 months after his last cigarette). Thanks to you ladies, I’m just super thankful to have such a wonderful man in my life and savoring our time together.

Me too! He finally started a ring fund with some of the money he got for Christmas, but I'm sure it will grow very slowly.

I also said I wouldn't marry him until he quit tobacco. This was one of his New Year's resolutions and so far he has been doing really well. He started this process in December and hasn't bought anything since the 22nd.

Yay! It’s so great to see the person you love getting healthy. This has been a long ( 1 year + ) process for BF and I and we’ve both learned *a lot* along the way. For example, I now know that any negative reinforcement of any kind (even showing disappointment rather than saying “it’s okay, it’s one slip-up, you’re doing great) is a big No-No. That was a tough lesson for me to get, but I really think we’re on our way and 2 weeks ago may have been our very last quit date! To be honest, I think since the ring is finally paid off it’s burning a hole in his pocket and being a great motivator.

I'm stiill NEY, and everyone at work was looking at my finger yesterday and asking "still no ring".  This is because my bf thinks we're already engaged and likes to talk about it.  (Yes I've talked to him about it, he thinks we are engaged, I don't until I get a ring...).  BF still says March which means he'll do it on our cruise.

The loose diamond is in our apt, in the fire safe at the top of my closet until he takes it to the jeweler... hopefully that's today since he'll be off at noon AGAIN.

I'm still here!  And this thread makes me breath a sigh of relief that I'm not the only one left.

I will (most likely) be engaged by the end of the summer.  I'd say no sooner than July, since he'll get his stipend from the Marines around then which he says he intends to use some of to pay for the ring. 

My guess would actually be July/August, since he'll just be getting back from his JAG internship (meaning I won't see him for nearly 3 months - just another day in the life of a military significant other *sigh*).  Last time we were apart because of the Marines, we started talking about marriage for the first time (we had only been dating 6 months at that point).  And it really solidified our relationship and helped develop our communication.  I'm guessing this time, being apart will reinforce how much we care about each other, and letting him miss me for a few months might just be all the motivation he needs!

Senorita I am totally with you. It has been a struggle for a while with us too. I haven't ever smoked or anything but to go through the struggle with him makes me feel like its me too.

We sat down together at the begining of December after he said he wanted to make it a resolution and made a calendar of the month of December with how much he could have a week. I think it was really what he needed to finally put an end to it.

I bet that having a ring and not being able to give it to you would be a great motivation. Wish that could be my guy's too!

I'm still NEY ..just waiting for the time being! My birthday is coming up and our anniversary is this month as well. He said it won't be either of those dates. So I've been biting my tongue about asking...I'm sure he's probably ready to kill me! Oops!

I'm still NEY. BF has given me some hints at a timeline, but he's pretty much being an engagement ninja so I really don't know when/where/how it might happen. He really wants it to be a surprise, and that's sweet.

I'm still with you girls.  For a while.  It just got pushed back a few years.  Though the BF is talking to his godfather today about timing.  But I have the feeling it is going to be a while....

Def. still with ya. Will be for a while, I'd say. Which I'm glad for. I always said 22 was the youngest I'd marry, but the closer that gets, the more I realize I'm so NOT ready for that.

I'll be here for awhile.  I figure the absolute earliest we'd be getting engaged is January of next year, after BF graduates, but I figure it's more likely to be after May of 2012.  I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he waited until May of 2013 to propose, which would mark five years together.  I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

But I'm in the definitely-NEY-or-any-time-soon camp.
