Re: Monday Questions

• What is you earliest memory?
memories of being taken to the park with my dad when I was like 3.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like.
Definitely buy a new house 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a master bedroom with 2 huge walk in closets and master bath. A kitchen big enough to have a center island, 2 car gargage, finished basement at least a half an acre of land and an in ground pool and a hot tub.

What do you want to name your children? girl Madeleine Elle, boy- Christian Jonah

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?
China- spend time caring for children in orphanages, giving them love.
What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?
It wasn't a real exciting summer, I had just moved into my condo I was probably doing lots of decorating. July 2017 I will be making the last payment on my car :-) I hope be parenting or at least KU.
If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?
I don't know if I would change anything really. It all happened for a reason even if the outcome was horrible and I got hurt.

Anniversary

• What is you earliest memory? Being bitten by my sister on the deck at my parents house. I was 4. We were near the blue plastic Little Tikes easel, and she was wearing a purple and white striped shirt. She was mad (don't remember why) and bit me. All of my memories start that summer.
If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like. We'd buy a new one. We like our house, but it's missing a few things we'd really like to have (like a garage, large shed, large yard, and forced air + A/C). It's a bit dated, and although we're working on it, we can only do so much before we overvalue it. My ideal home right now would be in a quiet area, 3 bed, 3 bath, partially finished basement, with a shop (inside or outside), at least 2 car garage (ideally 3), updated kitchen, and fairly open floorplan (although not totally open). Mostly brick, maybe a bit of board and batten siding.
What do you want to name your children? Stephanie and Jason. This is non-negotiable, and FI agrees. We have middle names picked out too, but in the interest of privacy, I'll keep those to myself (they're family names).
If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do? I'd want to try working with children (because it would be fun) and also do some building (to learn building techniques in different places). Africa comes to mind because I've always dreamed of going there. Alternatively, I'd like to spend time volunteering with homeless and impoverished youth in our area. They're invisible, but definitely exist here.
What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017? July 2007 - Partying my face off. I'd just finished senior year of high school and that summer was a total sh!t show. But it was super fun, and how I got together with FI. July 2017 - I'll likely be working. We don't plan to have kids quite yet, but we'll likely be in a different house/town than we are now. I hope we'll be doing some travelling at that point.
If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be? Nothing. Seriously. Even the crappy stuff has had a hand in getting me where I am, and I'm pretty happy with that. No point in having regrets.
Wedding Countdown Ticker

Life is good today.
• What is you earliest memory?
I have several memories of my Mom being pregnant with my brother, who is three years younger than me. I also remember being in the hospital (with croup) when I was 22 months old, though, so that wins.

I remember my Dad carrying me into the hospital-I remember what blanket I was wrapped in. I remember being in the tent thing they used back then, and people bringing me My Little Ponies. I remember waking up, and my Mom not being there, and a nurse telling me that she was across the hall taking a shower, and her sitting with me and reading me a story until my Mom came back.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like.
I think initially, we would re-do this house, because we do love it, and it has a lot of potential. I would put hardwood floors throughout the downstairs, the steps, and the hallways upstairs. Put new carpets in the bedrooms. Add a master bath/walk in closet off the back of our bedroom. Re-do both existing bathrooms and the kitchen. All new furniture. Finish the basement. Add crown molding to the downstairs.

What do you want to name your children?
If I had MY way, they would be John Kenneth (called Jack), Adair Kathryn, Caroline Irene, and Anderson Craig. All of the middle names are family names. Some of the first names are as well.

I do acknowledge that I probably should not name two of my children the same thing as JFK and Jackie Os' kids.

If BF had his way, they'd all sound like strippers or soap opera stars.

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?
I would do some Doctors Without Borders work. Either in sub saharan Africa or the middle east. Hopefully concentrating on womens' and childrens' health.

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?
On this day in July 2007, I was about a week from getting my heart completely shattered by my ex-bf. We broke up on July 27th, 2007 (I remember a lot of dates, leave me alone). So, I spent the rest of that month losing 20 lbs in about 2 weeks and drinking a lot with my girlfriends. And crying. And nannying, which was actually great to keep me busy. I still miss that job, and that family. I need to call them.

I hope in 5 years, I'll be married to BF, and have at least one baby. I hope I'll be able to be working part time, so in my dreams, I'd be spending a lot of time at the pool and doing various activities with my toddler.

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?
I would want my parents to still be happily married. The key word being "happily". That would just make my life SO much easier. And, I think my brother would be a much happier person if he hadn't gone through their divorce while he was in HS.

What is you earliest memory?
Breakfast yesterday? I have a horrible memory but my earliest memory is being at day care and doing a funny little dance to a cheesy country song.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like.
Well I live in a crappy apartment so I would buy a new house. This is my dream house:

What do you want to name your children?
Lilly and Juliette are mine and BF's favorite girl's names.
I love the name Finn for a boy but BF hates it.

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?
That's a hard one. I think I'd need to do a lot more research before I could answer it. I would want to make sure whichever organization I chose to volunteer with used a human rights based approach.

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?
I was spending the summer hanging out with friends, going to drive-in movies, and camping with my family. I'm sure I was also excited for my senior year of high school.

Hopefully BF and I will be TTC.

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?
Sometimes I wish I had gone into nursing like I wanted to in high school but if I really could change anything I probably wouldn't, you never know what the effect of even just one change would be.

• What is you earliest memory? I remember when my mom first introduced me to "big girl panties". We were in the living room at my grandmother's house and she was sitting on this old blue sofa. I distinctively remember asking her if I could still wear my diaper when I was wearing "big girl panties", lol.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now? Describe what either would look like. Buy a new house, considering I currently live with my parents. I would love to have a colonial style house.

What do you want to name your children? No idea. I have a few names that I like, but nothing sticks out like "I want to name them this, fo sho". I love names like Abigail, Opheliya, Lucy, etc.

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do? I would want to go with my best friend on one of his trips to Africa.

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017? Taking summer classes at community college. Other than that, I really have no idea. Probably still getting over a breakup.

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be? I would've been more serious about my junior year of college. I'm convinced that's where my life got off the right path.

• ooh, these are tough ones!

What is you earliest memory? I'm not sure if this is the earliest... but I vividly remember the entire scene from the lawyer's office when my dad adopted me, at age six.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now? Describe what either would look like. Definitely buy new... since I rent now. I would buy my heart-shaped island off the coast of Maine, and probably renovate the existing house.

What do you want to name your children? I don't. But if God forbid I ever did produce spawn, I love the names Harper & Rowan for girls, and Ethan & Ian for boys.

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do? I would go to either Camp Sunshine, in Maine, or the Hole in the Wall Camp, in Connecticut (Paul Newman's charity) - they are both for childhood cancer patients. It's a cause that's close to my heart.

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017? I was working here, probably bitching about the Giants, same as I am today. In 2017... hopefully much happier in my job situation, married (?), with a house & a dog.

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be? I wouldn't have gone to college where I did... although that would drastically alter everything about my life.

• What is you earliest memory? I was 2 playing with my older brother and he pushed me off a chair and I broke my arm. I also remember my mom holding me on her hip when I went for a check up with the doctor.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like. Definitely buy a new one. I don't know about specifics inside, but I would love a big yard with a garden and a nice wrap around porch.

What do you want to name your children? SO and I both have huge Irish families and want to continue the tradition of Irish names. I love Siobhan, but it's not exactly easy to figure out how to pronounce it from the spelling. Sean, Aileen, Shannon, and Mackenzie are some favorites too.

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do? I would definitely go to Latin America, probably Nicaragua. I went there on a service trip in college working in a small village delivering supplies. I would love to go back there and do something with children.

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017? July 2007- I met my SO! I had just graduated college and was getting ready to start working while he finished school. I was also having a blast partying all summer. In July 2017, I hope to be married and have a baby or be KU. I also hope to be back in school for a phd.

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be? I have been thinking a lot about my grandfather lately, really missing him. He passed away 12 years ago and I would love to have more time with him.

• What is you earliest memory? sledding in my grandparents front yard. Looking at it now, it's the tinyiest hill ever!

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now? I just bought my place a few months ago, and there aren't any major changes because the old school charm is awesome. That said, I'd get some spots on the floor to stop creaking, and a new kitchen floor. Really though, I'd get a car service so I didn't have to take the metro to work each day. :)

What do you want to name your children? that assumes I want children, which is undecided

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do? South America to teach.

What were you doing in July 2007? It was the summer before my last year of law school. I spent half the month finishing up an internship at the state Senate, and the other half traveling in Europe before a two week intestive study abroad in Berlin.

What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017? No clue. Working in the same job, looking for a new house, celebrating paying off my new car?

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be? I let go of a lot of things when I turned 30 (a few weeks ago), and I know that sounds ridiculous, but I did. I started to forgive myself for my stupid kid mistakes and move on. I'm not sure why I wouldn't let myself do that before I turned 30yo.

• What is you earliest memory?
Playing at the bottom of the stairs with my little sister, in our diapers, and then running upstairs and tugging on my mom's dress while waiting for our apples and pb snack. I think we were about 2.
If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like.
Buy a new one, since we don't currently own. It would have an awesome wrap around porch with rockers or adirondack chairs and a HUGE front yard. The kitchen would be ginormous with a 6 burner gas cooktop on the island and double ovens, granite counter tops, a built in wine cooler/fridge, and a sub zero gigantic fridge.
It would have an open floor plan so the kitchen would look out into the great room that would have a big wood fireplace right in the middle with a stone chimney that would go up all the way to the ceiling (cathedral, of course). Other than that I haven't planned much of my dream house.
What do you want to name your children?
Well there's the Bean (Elijah). And then future children...I don't know. I had names before, but they haven't held up, so we'll see.
If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?
Chiapas, Mexico. Doing something with health care. Setting up/building a clinic perhaps.
What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?
You expect me to remember that far back??? Heck if I know.
If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?
I would have gone back to finish my degree (or any degree), sooner.

What is you earliest memory?

--I have a bad memory from my early years so I don't know...probably was my sister beating me up (which could also be the cause of my bad memory). I also remember a boy asking me to marry him in Pre-K....he stole his mom's ring and I walked home with it without giving him a yes/no answer. Thank goodness I didn't lose it on the way home...my grandma was furious that I could have lost a really expensive ring.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like.

--I would buy a new house with a really large yard and an infinity pool someplace warm but not overly hot.

What do you want to name your children?

--Not sure. I used to love Hayden for a girl but now that it is popular, I don't like it as much. I loved growing up with a unique name that no one else had but that wasn't crazy sounding either. Would like my kids to have the same.

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?

--It sounds crazy but I've wanted to go to the Congo since I was little. I would love to work at a forest reserve and build up education about the extinction of the Mountain Gorillas.

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?

--I was working insane hours in my legal practice. In 2017 I will probably be working, married to SO with one or two kiddos.

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?

--I don't have many regrets. I too think my life thus far has, good or bad, created who I am and I'm pretty darn proud of that. I think I might have been a great doctor though...might go back and change that.
• What is you earliest memory?
I remember playing play doh with my sister at our old house. The entire house had carpet, so we had this board/table thing to play on. We were in the kitchen and my parents were cooking dinner. I remember feeling like we were in the way because the kitchen was so small. We moved when I turned four, so I was probably 3.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like.
Buy new, since I live in an apartment right now. Even with winning the lottery, I would want something practical. 2-3 bedrooms, full basement. Amazing kitchen for baking. Huge garage for our cars, atvs, motorcycles and snowmobiles.

What do you want to name your children?
We don't want children.

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?
I would need to do more research, but hopefully something with (cute) animals and something that allowed for me to travel. Taking care of baby tigers whose parents were killed by poachers?

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?
2007: Reading Deathly Hallows for the first time! Working. Doing the long distance thing with my now FI.
2017: Married. Own a house. Working, hopefully still at the same job. But maybe higher up in the company?

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?
I would want for my dad not to have cancer. Or maybe to have spent more time with my grandmas before they passed away.

• What is you earliest memory?

-The day my sister was born, when I was about 3.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like.

-Buy a house, since we rent. We'd buy a century home right on the lake (or very close) in the same city we live in now. It will have a chef's kitchen, b/c we both love cooking, and a huge soaking tub with a TV and fire place in the bathroom.

What do you want to name your children?

-Josephine Ann (f); Maxwell Ellis (m). FI is cool with Josephine, since it happens to be a family name, but hates Maxwell.

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?

-I'd go help prosecute war crimes or human rights violations.

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?

-7/07 I was working as a bartender, getting ready to start law school; 7/17 I hope to be working as a county prosecutor, with at least one kid and an other on the way.

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?
-I'd be hired at the county prosecutor's office by now, but like others have said- I'm where I'm at for a reason.

What is you earliest memory?
I remember pretending to be asleep in the back of the car so my dad would carry me into the house.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?
I'd buy a new house. I love my condo, but since we're getting married and will want a family, we're going to need more space soon.

Describe what either would look like.
I don't know! Probably a 4BR, 3BA home with a nice sized yard and a wonderful kitchen!

What do you want to name your children?
We've chosen Aubrey for a girl and Blake for a boy.

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?
I have absolutely no idea. It would be something i'd really have to think about. I'd want to do some research on the organization too.

What were you doing in July 2007?
I was in my first year of work in the real world and Chad and I had been dating for about 6 months.

What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?
Hopefully on baby #2 by then!

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?
I might change my major in college. I loved my business classes and I think my degree gives me a lot of flexibility in the work world...but now that I'm a little older there are many other subjects that interest me.
• What is you earliest memory?
A girl throwing up in my kindergarten class. I'm friends with her on facebook... I wonder if SHE remembers it!

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like.
Buy a new house. DH wants a workout room on the first floor. I want a porch with a little bit of land, and maybe some water (lake/big river/ocean)

What do you want to name your children?
Tiger Jr. No really... why do only GUYS get to name their kids Jr? I like my first name and would happily pass it on to a daughter.
In seriousness, I like the names Elizabeth and Katarina for girls, Anderson (Andy) for a boy. We have a couple names we both like, but I'm saving those :)

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?
Bora Bora. Just kidding... I have no idea. I would probably wait until the next natural disaster hit and then head there to volunteer.

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?
Hmm, July 2007 - I was running the soccer team in New Orleans, having the time of my life hanging out with cute boys all day, but also spending most of my time wanting to strangle my boss.
July 2017 - Hopefully parenting a three or four year old, and living in Richmond, VA not far from my sister and parents.

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?
I'd have my paternal grandfather live longer. He died when I was 9, so I really didn't get to know him well. I'd also ask my grandparents a LOT more questions about their lives when they were younger... I know next to nothing, and they are all gone now.

Still here and still fabulous!

• What is you earliest memory?
When we went to the hospital when my youngest brother was born, I was 4 and my 2-year-old brother and I both wore 'I'm the Big Brother, I'm the Big Sister' t-shirts, we were so excited!
If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like.

Since I rent I'd love to buy a house someday probably not now, but there's this estate in Central Penn I'm obessed with! I found it while I was trolling craigslist and its 17 acres and just perfect, its my dream home! What do you want to name your children?
It changes and BF hates them all but currently, Lola Rose, Poppy Mae, Alexander Gray and Bear David, I like original names and hate naming after people in families.
If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?
I did volunteer in Costa Rica in the summer of 2009 at an orphanage and it was amazing, but I think China, or Peru. What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?
July 2007, I was dating this terrible (but attractive) guy I met on my trip to Italy/Greece and smoking way to much pot. In July 2017 I hope to be married or getting married!

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?

Probably wouldn't have taken that LSD trip, it really did change my life and not in a way I would have liked.
What is you earliest memory?

This is exactly the type of law I've wanted to practice, international law with an emphasis in human rights.

What is you earliest memory?
I must have been about 1.5, maybe 2. I was watching my dad saw the fin off a thresher shark, and I saw all the blood running out, and I asked him for the teeth. He told me no, i couldnt have the teeth, they were for my brother. I remember being very upset by this haha!

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now?Describe what either would look like.
I would buy a new house. It would be a nice little house, maybe 3 bedrooms, and it would be on acerage somewhere near a forest. If i could have my way, it would be on a pond, or come with my own little pond. I would also love if it could be frequesnted by deer and turkeys :)

What do you want to name your children?
Boy: Ulysses Dain
Girl: Rowena Fawn

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do?
I would volunteer in Africa to help preserve the Black Rhinocerous

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017?
I cant even remember! Probably trolling around downtown with my friends! I know i went to my summer camp, and it was my last year.
In 2017 I will hopefully be working in a vets office, married, and maybe discussing potential children.

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be?
I would change the fact that my aunt and cousin decided not to move to Santa Barbara when I was 13. If they had, I feel like I would have been more well rounded. I would have loved to have had a second mother figure, and even a sister figure to learn from.

ETA: remembered a baby name!

• What is you earliest memory? My second birthday party.

If you won the lottery, would you buy a new house or fix up/buy the place you live now? Describe what either would look like. We'd buy our current house and remodel it to be more contemporary.

What do you want to name your children? Arya and Henry.

If someone offered to pay all your expenses for you to go volunteer for six weeks somewhere in the world, where would it be, and what would you do? North Korea, and I would work in healthcare.

What were you doing in July 2007? What do you think you'll be doing in July 2017? I was living in Ghana working at a school for special needs children. In July 2017, I'll probably be in America working at my normal job, sigh. If I'm lucky, I'll be on vacation.

If you could change one thing that has happened thus far in your life right now, what would it be? Changing any little thing would affect the rest of my existence, as I can see where each path diverged, so the safe answer is to say that I would not change a thing.
I love the names Harper & Rowan for girls
Posted by BriSox81
Okay, seriously, when I was growing up as the girl named Harper in all of my elementary and middle school classes, I hated that name because it was odd and no one knew anyone named Harper. Now there are Harpers EVERYWHERE. What the hell?? I started using my first name to force people to stop calling me that damn name.

Weirdness.
