Recipe Request

BF is having some dental work done and may not be able to chew all that well for a day or two. Any suggestions for what I should feed him?

For breakfast, I'd go with breakfast smoothies.  Basically, yogurt, milk, frozen or fresh fruit, & ice (optional).  Let me know if you want specific amounts.

For lunch/dinner, I'd go with soup, or chilled soup if his mouth can't take heat.

Snacks could be fro-yo, yogurt, apple sauce, pudding, jello.

If you like any of these ideas & want specific recipes, let me know!

When I had surgery on my gums I couldn't eat any solids and it was too sensitive for hot things too.  I bought some Ensure.  It was pretty awful but it filled me up.  By the second day I could handle soup and by the third I was able to chew a little bit.  Smoothies sound nice but they should probably not be chunky at all.

I ate mashed potatoes, jello, milkshakes, icees, smoothies (no fruit with seeds like strawberries), and yogurt.  So not very much.  Thin soup is probably fine as long as the hotness doesn't bother him.

I'm not the best person to ask because I was eating cheeseburgers when I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled. However, I think mashed potatoes (smooth, no lumps, so try instant) would go over well, as well as clear broth, applesauce.

I would also suggest yogurt and milkshakes for dessert. Hope he feels better.

When I had my wisdom teeth out, the only three things I liked eating were:
    1) Mac & cheese
    2) Mashed potatoes (don't do instant - yuck - just cook them extra long and use cream - whip them with a blender to make them smooth)
    3) Scrambled eggs

They felt like normal food, so I enjoyed them.  Also, sorbet is a great way to soothe mouth pain.  Fruity shakes are also great.

    Good luck!

I've had an embarrassing number of fillings over the last couple weeks. That's what happens when you don't go to the dentist for 10 years and don't floss. :)

I don't know what kind of work your BF is having done, but for me, getting extra rest was a HUGE help. One week I tried to just push through, and the pain lasted longer than the following week when I took the next day off to get extra sleep.

    Lots of fluids, of course.

I ate mostly mac n cheese, yogurt, pb sandwiches, toast, rice, soup, etc.

Hope everything goes well and he recovers fast!

Mashed potatoes, pudding, smoothies and milkshakes, broths, jello, my boyfriend maybe soft cakes and such.  I mostly did the potatoes and my bf brought over stuff for malts so I had that a few times too.

When I was younger, I'd get baby food squash after dental work. That and instant mashed potatoes (I actually like the instant ones). I've now learned that there's really no difference between frozen pureed squash and baby food, so I would add any sort of pureed veggies to the list.  The blender is your friend.

I can't wait for next Tuesday when I get my porcelain onlay. I can't chew on my left side with this temporary.

I've got TMJ pretty bad - so when my jaw starts acting up, I eat a lot of what everyone is talking about: mac & cheese, mashed potatoes (I like the instant ones, too, esp the flavored ones), baby food fruit (to give me fruit other than applesauce - I can't stand the veggies), smooth (no fruit) yogurt, frosties or shakes and I like to make a melted cheese sandwich (not grilled, grilled can be a little taxing on the jaw sometimes) - just make it like you were going to grill it, but instead zap it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds on high - it'll be really soft and if you tear it into small bites, there's no chewing.

Hope it all goes well and the pain doesn't last long!
