AW Brooch Bouquet (PIP)

FI's mom is highly allergic to flowers and I don't want fake flowers, so I decided to start working on a brooch bouquet. All the brooches are from my great grandma, grandma, mom, fmil, and myself (althought I'm going to have to buy more because I'm out of sparkly ones). There are still some holes in fill in, but here is my attempt at a brooch bouquet. Suggestions on how to make it better? It's going to weigh 20 lbs, so I might have to start lifting weights before the wedding. LOL!

That is a really awesome idea!! It looks really cool so far.

    20 lbs!!!? SHEESH, that's heavy!!

Ok... Not really 20 lbs... I just weighed it, and I'm at about 5 lbs, and I still have about 1/3 to go. So, about 8lbs. But, that is a lot of a bouquet, don't you think?

I love it!  That is such a cool idea!  You should look in Trift stores... they always have cool things like that there :)

I love this idea.  It is amazing to be able to incorporate so many women into your bouquet.

Does the tulle/fabric stay like that or get tucked under?

Here are some inspiration pics:  (I am sure that you've already found a bunch, but it was so fun to look.)

It's really pretty! I thought about making one, then I realized I'm not crafty.

So suggestions; it looks like the underlying support is a Styrofoam ball, maybe you could find a pretty piece of fabric that goes with your colors to hide the bright white.

I like the tulle, but overall it takes away from the brooches, the third one Mutley posted is a bit simpler, but makes a impact statement!

Definitely lift weights, and what about the bridesmaids?

Thanks for the suggestions! The tulle is on the handle thing I bought. I'm thinking about taking it off or tucking it under. I think it cheapens the look.

Mutley... Thanks for the inspirational pictures! I actually hadn't looked at pictures, my mom sent me an article out of a magazine where you could send all your brooches to a person, and she would make it for you for like $300! My response was, "I can do it for free!!"

Hahaha, and now that I'm Googling it, they don't say to start with a stryofoam ball... Hmmm... I have 9 months to get it right, this is a good first try! But, I seriously have sores on my fingers this morning from putting it together last night.

Oh, and my bridesmaids are wearing white muffs. It's a winter wedding :)

The white muff idea sounds awesome! You MUST post pics of your wedding...or else!!!!

8lbs is still heavy but much better than 20!  Carrying your boquet down the aisle should make your arms look awesome; that is, if it is like how wearing heels makes your calves look awesome.

I like the really round look you got from the styrofoam base. I agree that covering it with some fabric first would help make any bare spots look better.

I think you did a fantastic job!
