The wait...

Hi guys,   I am new to this site. I did join a year or so ago because I was a bridesmaid for a few of my friends. My boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 years now and we’ve had our ups and downs financially but thankfully back on our feet. He’s very old school how ever he let me pick out my own ring (yay) and he wants me to have no idea when it’s coming. Well of course I am little bit of a brat and wanted to know is at least if it’s going to happen this year. He said this year it will. Well there’s 5 months left and I cannot wait! We are going away in 3 weeks but I don’t really think it’ll be then and I know people keep saying maybe vacation I don’t want to go in with that mindset because I really do think he needs more time to pay for this ring. I am tempted to buy a wedding magazine and stuff like that but I don’t want to get to excited yet because 5 months when you’re waiting for something can seem like years. How do you guys deal with the wait? Because it’s becoming torture to me!!!

First of all, why are people saying not the buy the magazines until you get the ring?  How is that any different than being on The Knot?  Jerzeygrl, I second that!  I get so tired of people putting a time table on when I should be engaged.  Do they have nothing better going on that they have to worry about my love life?  My BF and I have discussed our desire to get married, we know it is going to happen, I am being patient and know it will happen when he is ready to propose.  I am tempted not to tell anyone we are engaged when it happens, just announce our marriage once it's done.  But it sounds like we are all in the same boat.  It's just a waiting game.  Good luck to everyone!
