Not Engaged Yet

Question

So I found a ring that I like but it has diamnods on the side and 10k whit gold and topaz for the main stone. Is that bad? Would people find it odd to have an engagement ring like that? I just dont know.

I don't understand what's "bad" about it. There's no carved-in-stone rule that you MUST have a a ring with a diamond as the main stone. If you like that ring, you should drop hints to your BF. 'Nuff said.

Lots of people do non-diamond stones these days.

hahaha at Noelle :) To answer your question, no it's not bad. As a matter of fact, a lot of couples are going down the "non center diamond" route. As long as you find a ring you love & you both can afford then you should be fine.

I think as long as you are happy with your ring, then it shouldn't bother anyone else. Just a question, do you mean yellow topaz or blue topaz? I love blue topaz but I despise the yellow one. It's my birthstone (November) but I wish it were anything else but. It does sound like a pretty ring though.

I think that your ring will look beautiful. However, you would not be able to wear it everyday forever. A topaz is much softer than a diamond and will chip with daily wear.

Here!!My center stone is a sapphire and it has diamonds on the side - I absolutely love it and wouldn't want anything else.Everyone who has seen my ring comments on how pretty it is and I haven't really gotten anyone asking why I don't have a diamond ring. In the end the only person that needs to be happy with it is you and if you want a topaz for the stone then go for it!

Thanks all.  It is blue topaz. I do like it a lot and my bf said that he thinks it is the perfect fit for me. He says lots of people have diamonds but this is why my ring is perfect for me. SOOOOO we got it. I finally have the ring of my dreams well I cant wear it but it soon enough.

I like it a lot.  Get the ring you want.  It's going to be on your finger for a long time (hopefully!).

Thank you all. I love it. I am happy with deciding to get it. We are not engaged yet but we have set the date and picked out where it is going to be. We are also working on guest list. I am soooo excited.

    Diamnods? That sounds terrible.
