Are you planning to wear your e-ring forever?

I have seen it done both ways. I'll probably put my e-ring on my right hand until after the ceremony, then swap it over to the left once the wedding band is on my finger.

you can either take your e-ring off right before the ring exchage (give it to your MOH) and the put it back on afterwards.  Or you can do what jeana suggested, and just wear the e-ring on the right hand during the ceremony and swap it over after the ceremony.

Or you can be like me and just use your e-ring as the ring. (My band did NOT come in on time and is still not here. Oh well. At the time, he wanted to buy a simple silver band and use that for the time being. I didn't see the point in wasting the money.)

Given that my future e-ring and wedding band are actually a set, I'll be wearing both. Am planning on getting an inexpensive thin white gold band to where when I'm in the field/lab so I don't destroy my actual wedding set. While most weddings I've gone to I've seen the bride either give her e-ring to her MOH for safekeeping, or where her e-ring on her right hand and switch it over after the ceremony, you can also do an e-ring blessing during the ceremony. My friend did this a few years ago and it was incredibly sweet. It would happen after the wedding band was placed on your finger, and would go something like this:"The engagement ring is a symbol of promise and intention. Now the intention is realized and the promise is fulfilled. Please place the engagement ring on 's finger over her wedding band to symbolize that the love that brought you together will always protect and sustain your marriage."

I thought about this question and I think I am going to continue wearing it UNLESS my job requires that I cannot then I will wear just the band during work hours.

I am NYE, but will be using my grandmother's e-ring, and do not plan to take it off, except for certain activities, but definitely plan on wearing it forever. Sometimes, people stop wearing there e-ring and keep it in a safe instead, if it is worth so much, they think it is safer in a safe. I don't understand that, I would rather have something I can wear, then have something worth so much I have to keep it locked up.... I also like the idea of stating a passage when replacing the e-ring back on the bride's finger. I will keep that in mind for when the time is right! Also, I am pretty new to the boards, only posted once, about an heirloom question, but have been reading and cruising around the website for awhile. Even though I am NYE, I have been with my bf for 3.5 years and think the proposal is coming soon, maybe with in the next month. I am excited to be able to post more, and be more involved once I am engaged and am planning a wedding....but until then.....

I have a marquis cut (a little sharp) and it's 1ct.....+3/4 around it.I wear it for everything except when I handle raw meat (i.e. dinner and chicken, beef, etc.)....otherwise it doesnt come off.......i love it too much. I have an office job, not sure if that matters........I am also not gentle on things.......no problems yet. :-)my band matches it and I will wear them together.

I've had my ering for a year so far. I wear it to sleep/work/cleaning/dishes/cooking. When my fingers would swell during the summer there were a few days where it wouldn't fit on my finger. I wore it around a white gold chain as a necklace. I have also taken it off when making meatballs (i mush it with my hands) and didn't want ground beef stuck in there. When pregnant I plan to wear it as a necklace around the white gold chain, along with my wedding band, if they don't fit my fingers.
