Not Engaged Yet

So i was wondering..

For all you ladies on the NYE who stick around after getting engaged.. NQB, Jeana and now Arco!! is it just as exciting telling your Knottie friends as it is telling your day to day friends?? Lol

Re: So i was wondering..

They can't really be compared I don't think.  I did feel a lot less restrictions telling people here because no one here knows my family IRL and could spoil the surprise for them.  Everyone else had to wait until family had been informed before they could know.

I think it was more fun telling the knot.  :-) Because everyone pretty much knew we were getting engaged.  And then 30 seconds after the announcement there were 100 wedding questions.  When is it?  What are your colors?  Am I invited?  Etc...

Lol Yeah i bet... it was funny when Drew and I were sitting in the computer room last week he asked this hilarious question... "So when i do propose to you, who are you going to tell first, your mom or your friends on the knot?".....and i actually had to think about it! LOL
  • edited December 2011
Haha, I definitely told my mom first!  :)And yes, NQB, I agree with you.  The questions (particuarly the "when") have already started.  Seriously!?  We've been engaged all of 12 hours, and most of those were sleeping.  When we know, I promise, you'll be like the 42nd person we tell.  Chill out.The only thing I know so far is that the church we were looking at is booked every Saturday in April, so that month is out unless we find a different venue.  Of course, FI told me at lunch that the more he's thought about it, the more he likes the idea of getting married in the mountains while it's snowing.  Hello, cold.  I hate you.  Oh, and he likes the idea of getting married in January.  THIS January.  FML.

I know.  It's also impossible unless I want to eat my deposit on my dress, which I don't.  But I figured I'd save that conversation for later; when we aren't pressed for time on a lunch hour.  He can have his pick between this Spring or 2011.  No clue which he'll choose.

It was more fun to tell you guys. Everybody else had a bajillion questions for me, and has been bugging me about when and where and who's invited. With you ladies, I can tell you want I want, in clear and complete posts, without being interrupted and without crazy questions. You guys get that it takes some time to plan. We're all in the same chapter of the book (I'd say same page, but not really).Nobody here is like omg omg omg when is it? Should I buy my plane ticket now or later? Where are you having it? Is my BF's brother's cousin's fiance invited? Are you inviting your great-aunt Anne who you've never met in your life?Srsly. More enjoyable here!

NQB, I called the dress shop to check, and she said she'd be able to give me an estimated arrival time for the dress on Monday.  She originally gave me a window of anywhere from 4-7 months, but figured it would be closest to 5.  So that would put it at mid-March.  Mid-Feb. if it hits the 4 month mark.

Dang, Acro! I ordered mine on Tuesday and it's due the second week in January. The difference in turnaround from designer to designer is amazing.

Yea it seemed pretty ridiculous.  I hope it was a lie so I wouldn't be upset if it came in in 3 months or something, but I doubt it. On the upside, after some quick research, I found the perfect place for FI's dream mountain wedding, though we will still have to compromise on the date, because it's outdoors and I don't want everyone to freeze: http://www.campgreenville.org/chapel.php

"pretty place" is very appropriate! And, NQB, I am sure it will be "warm," but not in the mountains! Mountains are cooler even in the middle of summer.

Depends on the year.  It's usually warm during the days here, but can get pretty cold at night. That place is on the border of NC/SC though, and it'll definitely be colder there (though probably not still snowing, even though it's in the mountains).  But yes, it's gorgeous.  I love it.  I visited it as a child, and when FI said he wanted a mountain venue, it was the first place I thought of, but I was unsure if they did weddings since it's a camp.  But they do.  Unfortunately, it's *way* more expensive than our free church.

Ah yes I see.  I just assume any place south of DC is nice and warm all the time.  Like on Xmas break a few years ago I went to NC and it was in the 80's. Maybe I should move.  :-)

Oh wow you've been busy jeana.  I will read the rest of it tonight after my (oh no) dress appointment! And acro you guys should take time to figure out what you both want for the wedding.  Mountain, local, etc.  If you have to wait a little longer, that's ok.  Then I won't be the last person to get married anymore, lol.
