Pedicure

Today I decided to treat myself to a pedi, with no less than flowers on my toes. Of course, me being me, I tripped and fell over a cement step about 2 hours later and ruined one of the flowers. Grr. What does BF say? "Why don't pedicures come with touch up paint? Houses do. If your toes were black, tan, or white I would have touch up paint for you in in my garage." Well duh, but my toes aren't a house.

Valid point, my man has... why don't pedi's come with touch up paint?!!!

Ya, just go out and find a similarly coloured nail polish or two. That's your touch up paint right there. You can use toothpicks and paintbrushes if you need more precision than a usual nail polish brush can provide. Problem solved.

Some places do, I've actually been to places where they give you the bottle.

They have this new thing around here, where they put the same stuff on your regular nail, as they do the acrylic nails, so the nail polish is like guaranteed not to chip for 3 weeks. I haven't tried it, but one of my friends was telling me about it yesterday. The downside? You have to go back to the salon to have them take off the stuff.

Oh, man, a mani/pedi sounds heavenly right now.

I'm too lazy to go back for a touch up unless the salon was on my way to work. This is why I normally get just solid colors --easier to touch up at home!

I get pedis fairly regularly and no where around here that I have been to has a 24 hour guarantee.  It could just be that I go to all the cheap places due to being a poor college student.

Most salons are very sympathetic if you chip on the same day and will almost always fix it. Once I smeared my not-quite-dry polish on the door handle of my car as I was leaving the salon. I was so pissed!

My nail place will even let you borrow a bottle of nail polish if you're going on vacation or away for a special event (like a wedding or something), just in case you chip and it needs to be fixed right away.

It's called Shellac and I have nothing but good things to say about it. FMIL has the machine so I do mine often and I take it off by myself. (I explained in link) It really helps if you bite your nails or you're never able to grow them out. FSIL does pointe and her pedicures last the full two weeks, even with her being on her toes a lot. FSIL is horrible on regular manis or pedis. I could go on and on about Shellac.

Here's a link about it from a few weeks ago.

There are other brands besides Shellac.  There is Gelish, OPI Axxium, and so many more.  It's a gel/polish hybrid, so it's not the same thing they use when you get acrylics.  Shellac doesn't last long for me because my nails peel, but it does last longer than a regular mani (which chips after a day).

I just ordered the stuff to do the OPI Axxium (it's supposed to be better for people who have nails that peel) on Amazon, so I will give you all a review of it after I try it!  Kiss
